anyone fly southwest or american where checked bag limit is 62"...the large bag is 64.5" ...did you have to pay excessive bag fee?

I routinely fly with American (USA only) and the only constraint I have ever been advised of is 50#. The fee for over that is extreme @ US$100 vs $30 (hint:  a collapsible duffel bag costs about 20-odd bucks, and can be carried inside the bag... adding a second bag is only 40 bucks on American, for a total of 70 bucks... an overweight bag is 100 bucks, so, saves money if you're going to have "more stuff" on the return.).

Keep in mind that there is no weight limit on the carry-on.

Is it more of a dark hot pink on the black & red suitcases? Or a red red....
