In A Tough Economy, This Book Could Be Very Useful
Ever dream of stumbling upon a box of old silver & gold coins? Possibly a pirate's treasure? Yeah me too! I originally got involved in the Occult so I could find treasure & increase my wealth. Author David Rankine has done a fine job of giving us what amounts to a Treasure Hunter's grimoire in "the Book of Treasure Spirits".Based primarily on a 1649 hand written manuscript, Sloane 3428, it is a text that likely any one of us today would compile for Magical work aimed at bringing us wealth by helping us find treasure. Treasure hunting was almost a national past time in the Middle Ages especially amongst those already well off as we find that even Kings engaged in it. For instance, Edward the IV, King of England had a Spirit ritual starring the Spirit "Birto" summoned for him to help his own treasure hunters to find hidden wealth. The grimoires of the Middle Ages through the Renaissance period were filled with Spirits whose job & office it was to discover treasure. These included even the famed CLM 348 Munich manuscript which professor Richard Kiekhefer translated from Latin to the Clavicles of Solomon & other grimoires such as the Lemegeton's Goetia as well as the Grimoirium Verum & the French Le Dragon Rouge.Sloane 3428 appears to be a compiled book of Spirits, seals, talismans & rites aimed at helping the Sorcerer find buried & sunken treasures. The invocations & rituals are very much like the rituals & spells found in the other grimoires where they have a very ecclesiastical sound to them with their orations calling upon YHVH in Hebrew names. These orations serve to bully the Spirits named to come forth & deliver locations of said treasures to the rites operator. What makes this book interesting is its scope of money oriented rites & Spirits. We find rites from the Sloane manuscript to get a Thief to return stolen goods; summoning Fairy Spirits & Elementals; discussion of Demon Rulers; rituals to discover a treasure trove; and rituals of specific Spirits such as Vassago, Birto & Agares.Fully translated into English, there's little problem with pronunciations except maybe with the Hebrew names or the Spirit's names. If you have difficulty with either of these, you can look these up in Aaron Leitch's "Secrets of the Grimoires" which should be read & studied alongside this manual by Rankine as Leitch's book will help you better understand this work & thereby make better use of it.I suspect that many will buy this to simply add to their collection of Medieval magical book collections but there are those of us who believe to put such books to work is not only more fun but the ultimate goal of the compiler of this particular Sloane manuscript. I plan on performing several of these rituals & noting the results later on my own website. In the books forward, Rankine mentions several of the grimoires of the past such as the Clavicles of Solomon, the Munich Manuscript a.k.a. Clm 348, Grimoirium Verum, Reginald Scot's Discoverie of Witchcraft & even the more recent 6th & 7th books of Moses yet he fails to mention the Italian Grand Grimoire or its French counterpart Le Dragon Rouge as both of these grimoires summon Lucifuge Rofocale who is the Treasurer of Hell & its operation is solely aimed at making the operator rich.On pp 158-160 we find a list of Spirits called upon in Sloane 3428 along with some unique seals. We see some Spirits such as Dantalion, Andromalius, Asmodiah, and even a set of characters used to summon Mamon (most likely Mammon). This list is certainly helpful as are the seals for the practitioner who intends to use this manual as I shall do so. Given our current & tough economic times, I think manuals such as this should get a solid workout from practitioners seeking to better their own as well as their client's financial status.Rankine has given us appendices, bibliography & even a useful index to help with one's research. Over all I have to give this book a five star out of five star rating simply because it is complete unto itself. To make it work you will need to learn the ways of Magic of course but if you stumble along, Leitch's book mentioned above will certainly help you with understanding the Sloane manuscripts.

TREASURE SPIRITS
I ordered The Book of Treasure Spirits after reading Brother Moloch's review and I am in agreement with all the points that he makes, it is really a fantastic Grimoire for its purpose. Saying that I will add that if you approach this book simply as a book to be read in a linear fashion you will still find a subtle positive affect in terms of money. To really work magick you should see this book as a powerful Grimoire and work with the Grimoire through the different chapters as it leads you to work with the magick-I actually began with later chapters and was led back and forth until I arrived at my own organic approach. The drawings and circles are unique including the usage of a Dragon in the Rituals, the Dragon will manifest as a luminous green glowing entity and has a secret purpose as regards the Treasure Seeker. I agree also with Brother Moloch as to the powerful Treasure Grimoire known as the Grand Grimoire for finding and attracting real wealth.
