how do you get it apart?

The outer case is rubber which stretches over the plastic front cover. Just start peeling away the black rubber portion of the case as it is wrapped over the front edge of the plastic top cover.

Does this fit an s8 active phone?

Probability not since the actice a couple mm bigger than the regular s8

Is the screen protector plastic or glass and is it a tight fit or have an air gap?

it's plastic and it's a pretty tight fit i give it a 8.7 to 9 out of 10 in responsiveness i would buy it again
