Whiteside router bits are second to none.
This review is for the Whiteside 3/4 top and bottom bearing flush trim bit (2715). I have a small shop but have several sets of 1/4 and 1/2 router bits. Whiteside delivers premium performance and quality carbide at a decent price. The 3/4 double bearing 1/2 shaft flush trim is perfect for use with hardwoods and hardwood plywood template application. When I need perfect fit and don’t want to waste extra time setting up my router fence 4-10 times to replicate outer edge cuts, this is the bit period. For non hardwoods or smaller radius corners I I use their 1/2 flush trim (same straight edge). The 1/2 is better reserved for having to remove 1/8 of material or less. For perfect squaring of material without a fence where material removal will be less than an 1/8 of an inch for thick hardwood I use the 1/4 top bearing spiral hard carbide. Other than 1/4 plunge or depth cuts, this will literally be the last 1/4 bit you’ll ever buy as long as you clean it after use.. it’s literally that good. I’ve used my 1/4 spiral flush trim almost every day for 5 years for hardwood squaring and it’s still as sharp as they day I bought it.

Excellent for making templates & for pattern routing
I was looking for a router with both top and bottom bearings to make simple templates and do pattern routing, and also do trimming. Having both top and bottom bearing means that one bit can do the tasks of both a pattern bit and a trim bit. The bit has a 1-1/2 cut length, so it can handle fairly thick parts. With its 1/2' shaft and an overall length close to 2-1/2", it's probably best to use it on a router that's mounted on under a table rather than try to use it in a hand-held router. The 7/8" diameter might not work well with very intricate patterns. But Whiteside makes a similar bit that has a 1/4" diameter shaft and a 1/2" diameter x 1" long cutting surface that should work well with intricate patters and is probably better suited than this one for hand routing -- it's on my Amazon wish list. Whiteside has a solid reputation and it's well deserved based on my experience with this bit.

Worked as expected
I used this bit once to pattern rout both the template and curved legs for a table. It worked well and was convenient to have a bearing on both top and bottom.

An excellent router bit
I purchased this bit to route around templates for toys I make for the grandkids. I need a bit with both a top and bottom bearing so that I can flip the piece over, with the template still attached, and route on both sides. This helps to limit the amount of climb cutting that I have to do and this limits tear outs. I has a less expensive bit for this purpose but the blades chipped. Since I use this bit a lot I decided to spring for the more expensive Whiteside bit. I'm glad I did. The bit is substantial and clearly quality controlled manufactured (unlike some other bits I have). I did a fair mount of routing with the bit. When I was finished and cleaned up the bit it looked brand new. I highly recommend this bit. The next time I need a bit it will be from Whiteside.

This Router Bit is amazing. Runs circles around most other bits.

Good tool!
I didn’t really noticed any difference between this bit and the Diablo bit on the first time of use.
