Well Made Tool
It wasn't as big as I thought it would be. But, it works, and will com in handy.

Never attempt a de-soldering project without this tool!
In the past I've used solder wicks but thought I'd give this vacuum device a try. I now feel that any de-soldering effort should always use a de-soldering (vacuum) iron. Works great and allows DIP and other components to be removed as each lead can be disconnected from the circuit board and minimizes heating and heat damage to the circuit board and components. Comes with complete set of accessories.

Good value and great performance
I find this item to be sufficient for desoldering electronic components with ease. Less than 3 seconds on the post and hit the button. Clean and effective removal of solder. The cleaning of the vacuum canister is very easy and seems to be well constructed. If you are removing several components as I tried for experimental purposes, you might only need to wait 5 seconds to recover tip heat on larger post components. Great value and highly recommended!

Works well, finally broke unfortunately
I wish the plastic body would be resistant to physical shock. I lightly dropped it and the plastic body broke, then it started smoking. It still heats up well, but won't suck anymore. I'd be happy to get a new plastic body if possible.

Works about as expected; 350 watts; 2.5 minute warmup
While not a high end de-soldering station, I will only need this every once in a while. The first time I used it, the heating element side produced smoke which seems to have come from a coating. I took it outside and let it cook everything off for about 15 minutes and that seems to have done the trick. It includes a cleaning rod, other tips and a little bit of wick for good measure. My Kill-a-Watt shows about 350 watts pulled and takes about 2.5 minutes to melt solder. (I figure there is a bit more mass in there than a regular soldering iron hence the longer warm up time.) BT recommended

Works perfectly
Can't believe how much easier PC board rework became with this. I will note that the indicator light stopped working on mine, which does not affect operation... the iron still gets hot and work perfectly.

Combined Desoldering Iron and Solder Puller Makes Component Removal Easy
This desoldering iron and solder puller worked perfectly right out of the box. I have a number circuit boards with small circuit pads having small plated through holes. The components soldered into the board are difficult to remove because of it. Furthermore, small pads are easily delaminated from the PCB with excessive heat. This tool makes it easy to remove parts without overheating the pads. It does an excellent job on the first pass of vacuuming solder from the PCB plated through holes. Since this desoldering iron is used in the vertical position with the solder puller built in, it is much more effective than a separate soldering iron with separate solder puller. It seems to work as well as a much more expensive desoldering tool although I am sure that the vacuum pump on more costly tools is much more powerful. I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it based upon my limited experience.

It works.... until it wears out -- and that happens QUICKLY.
THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN UPDATED. Rating downgraded due to poor quality tips, see below. Initially, this iron did exactly the job it's meant for. It made quick work of de-soldering some sockets on a piece of retro kit I needed to fix. It has issues, though: 1) There is no temperature control, the iron just run at a fixed power level. For de-soldering, that's fine if you have good dexterity and a light touch, but if you aren't careful, this iron will damage the PCB by overheating it. 2) That high temperature causes it to fairly quickly oxidize its de-soldering tips, so the tinning essentially "wears off" after a matter of minutes. The tips are hard to re-tin once that happens. A steel wire brush is only just barely enough to break the oxidation. 3) While the iron and pump themselves seem to be holding-up just fine, the desoldering tips that come with this tool are just JUNK! A good tip is critical to successful desoldering, and the ones this comes with begin to wallow-out from the inside VERY quickly, and have a rather wide outer diameter, which increases the risk of board damage due to overheating. In fact after a few hundred more pins since my initial use, the 1 mm nozzle actually lost a tiny chunk at the tip -- the metal had worn completely through, resulting in a hole right at the edge, thus making it impossible to draw a vacuum through the target component pin hole. I don't think I got even 10 hours of use out of it before it failed. The other one is already wallowed-out way beyond normal, and it's only done a couple hundred or so pins, so it's already starting to have trouble keeping the heat on the pad since it can't keep itself centered. It won't be too much longer before this tip is trashed also. These tips are clearly made of some soft or inferior metal. I assume copper, but a good soldering iron uses an iron or steel tip, thus a good desoldering iron needs that also. For comparison, I've probably done thousands of pins with my T12, and it's showing no signs yet of the tip wearing significantly. Going by the rate of wear, I would say this tool should have come with at least 10 replacement tips of each size. Or anyway at least enough to get a good couple hundred hours of use before it's time to restock. Bottom line: This tool will probably work fine if you're in a pinch, but if you plan on actually doing desoldering in the long term, DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM unless you can also get good quality, HARD tips for it that won't wear out prematurely.
