A pair work well on central heating
I already had a digital thermometer and some wire thermocouples. I bought two of these clamp thermocouples to measure temperature differences between flow and return at the central heating boiler and at individual radiators. I tested both on the same pipe and they measured the same temperature with one degree of difference, which was a relative accuracy enough for my purposes. I did not test their absolute accuracy. They were easy to use and stayed well on both 22mm and 15mm pipes. This proved a useful system.

Essential for setting up radiator water flows on condensing boilers.
After 2 Failed attempts at buying these from chinese suppliers, I finally opted to buy from this UK supplier and received 2 of them in 2 days for not much more money.I bought them to go with my Proster dual digital thermometer which I also bought here, for setting up and balancing the flows through central heating systems. Users must remember, that type k thermocouples are only accurate to about 2 degrees however, it's easy enough to determine the error by putting them side by side on a hot pipe or popping them in a beaker of boiling water. It is not essential to have absolute accuracy when setting up a radiator, you are only looking for a relative difference between input and output. They work fine and the two systems I've so far checked, are working better. They could perhaps be improved by a vee grove in one of the sides of the jaws, but otherwise, useful and good value for money.

Temperature results
Bought this to help me read the temperatures of water pipes, found it easy to use but the temps recorded were well out of sink with other recording equipment - wouldn’t recommend this product on this occasion
