The description says they are real wood and they look like real wood but ..I don't think so. They are a little wobbly around the screws/soft and the wood look is a little too perfect and the finish is very very thick, almost like a coating of plastic on top...little too thick. I wish someone would slice a leg open and tell if they are real wood or not, but it won't be me, sorry. They are attractive and they do work for now, but I am concerned if they will hold up over time.UPDATED April, 2019: The chairs are falling apart, no matter how many times they are "tightened" underneath the seat, the legs are falling off the chair.

I have a separate review on the East West black with cherry top table. I was so pleased that I ordered this pair of matching chairs, and I am so glad that I did! The quality of this furniture that I have received is just so good. This is not cheap, wobbly stuff...It's good, heavy, sturdy furniture.I personally found the chairs a little more challenging to assemble than the table, but that may just be me. I did assemble it all myself, so it probably was a little more difficult to do than if I had had someone helping me.The delivery of the package was, once again, received two days earlier than I anticipated. The package was in great shape, and the chairs, just like the table, were very well packaged. All of the screws, washers, etc were there, along with the Allen key. It took me approximately 45--60 minutes to put the chairs together properly. The table took 30 minutes or less.I would certainly recommend this company based on my experience, and I would order from them again if I need anything further.

These chairs are exactly what I was hoping for. The seats are very comfortable and stable. No wobbling, no dings in the leather or wood. They have very smooth finish and look amazing with my husband's old wood table we inherited. The color of wood and chair was as the picture displayed. I bought two sets (total of 4 chairs) and was able to assemble them all in less than 45 minutes by myself. Time includes unwrapping and organizing the parts/pieces. The instructions are in English and have pictures to help Instruct. I made sure to set down the chairs with the bolts still loose to ensure even balance and laid underneath to tighten the bolts up.I have to mention how extremely well the packaging of the Avon chairs was. I was very impressed with how the outer packaging secured and protected the wood/leather chair pieces with foam wrap and styrofoam. The bolts, flat & lock washers, with an allen wrench were inside a ziplock bag that held two smaller ziplocks that seperated all the hardware to assemble one chair. No guessing how many per chair, per hole! It was great.Needless to say, if you're thinking about getting new chairs, these Avon Chairs with leather seats are a wonderful choice.

Like most guys, I opened the box and set aside the instructions because how hard can it be to put together a chair? Well if you get this chair, separate the 3 sizes of bolts, put the lock washers and regular washers on all the bolts. put the LONG bolts in the back, but do NOT tighten them down, then the short ones in the back, then tighten the long bolts down. the four medium bolts are used for the front legs. I wish they had colored the screws or even the screw heads to include in the directions for assembly. It is a great chair, very comfortable to sit it, the back as a slight curve that fits the back.

We love the chairs... very comfortable and the fact that the back rest and back legs are all one piece. Included instructions are weak, at best. Here's an easier way:1) Place seat on a table, cushion side down, with edge for front legs at the edge of the table. Install front legs, but finger tighten bolts only. (I put some of the packing materials under the cushion.)2) Cushion side still down, rotate seat 180 degrees. Let the back edge of the cushion overhang the edge of the table ~1-inch. Install back legs, with all bolts finger tight.3) Leaving the chair as is on the table (upside down with legs up and back of chair hanging down), place a straight-edge (12-inch paint stick or ruler) diagonally across the wooden frame of the cushion to check that the back edges are flush. Slowly tighten the two center bolts, frequently checking that the back edges remain flush. Tighten the 4 corner bolts as you re-check edges, then fully tighten all 6 bolts for the back.4) Flip chair over and place on level, hard floor. Wiggle the front legs as you put down pressure on the cushion, so that all feet are touching the floor equally. Hold that pressure (with a weight or someone pushing down) and tighten the 4 bolts 50%. Take pressure off and check that all 4 feet remain touching the floor. If so, fully tighten all bolts. If not, loosen bolts, wiggle the front legs again, then repeat pressure and bolt tightening.Presto!

This is the second time I have bought these chairs. First I only purchased two, then I decided that I wanted another set to have four in our kitchen. I own the matching table to these chairs as well. The chairs were so easy for me to assemble by myself. I had them put together in no time. They are sturdy. I have four of the chairs with the table. For a beach themed house they look great. Even standing on the chairs to reach something up high is fine for me to do. I don't have to worry about them being wobbly. I do not have any cushions on them and they are comfortable enough for dining on at all meals, even a longer dinner and coffee visiting. We are very happy with the purchase.

Beautiful chairs sturdy, but color is a little to dark for my liking.
