I don't think it would hold up to the weight of the water against it. So , I'm going to tell you no don't use it for a paddle for a real boat or skiff.

Hey. I think it would be ok on floor, but not a gripper. Mine is pretty slick I bought to make something for my cats tent. Sorry I can’t help any more than that.

Yes you can, it’s thick enough to do that. The one I chose was not enough for my project, I thought I would get more of it.
