Worked Perfectly! Fixed My Dryer! Google Says This is THE Most Common Reason for Dryer Failure.
Worked Great! Fixed my Dryer! I had changed out the 'Start' switch and NOTHING! I then started asking Google what else it could be. I provided exact descriptions of what happened and the symptoms I experienced, and Google said this was most likely the problem. In fact, Google said this is THE MOST COMMON FAILURE WHEN A DRYER STOPS WORKING! Google also said that this is the ubiquitous part used across most all dryer brands and models. It was a little difficult removing the back cover of the dryer, but the part was easily located and easily swapped out and it worked perfectly! A FIVE-DOLLAR PART, and about 45 minutes of effort, FIXED MY DRYER!

Now that this part fixed the problem, reduce the odds of this part failing again.
This part fixed the problem with my old Whirlpool clothes dryer. If this part on your dryer failed and you replace it, be sure to throughly clean out your dryer vent path from dryer al the way ti the outside flap. There was so much lint packed around the outside flap, it could not fully swing upward enough to allow full air flow. A block vent restricts adequate air flow, resulting in excessive heat. There are various safety devices monitoring heat. The MicroTemp device is one of them. If it detects overheating, it permanently opens, which means you will have to replace it. Also clean out your lint filter path. Optimizing the efficiency of an electric clothes drying requires good air flow paths. At least once a year, clean the air flow paths.
