Great value signal generator
My hobby is electronics so I was looking for a cheap signal generator to use on my projectsThe signal generator connects by the cable (included) to a USB port to provide the power and worked straight out of the box. The instructions say it can be run on a battery but I have not tried that.I found the FG-100 DDS Signal Generator to be great as it gives good signals, is simple to use, lightweight and has a small footprint. You can select the wave shape with the mode button : Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Reverse Sawtooth, 20% Pulse - which is similar to square wave or ECG = heart beats.I connected the output to 1kΩ load for these tests. I chose a 1k load because I want to input the signal into my circuits (currently amplifier circuits) not to drive an ouput device directly. The output amplitude can be adjusted between a maximum of about 18 V peak to peak and a minimum stable wave form of 88-100 mV peak to peakI was not able to fully test the signal generators offset function, as my scope auto calibrates the signal to zero so using the offset function only has a momentary effect, however, I did confirm that it was functioning using a multi-meter.The photos show good wave forms over a wide range of frequencies with a 1k loadThe photos are:1. Sine wave at 10KHz2. Square wave at 10KHz3. Triangle wave at 10KHz4. Sine wave at 100Hz5. Sine Wave at 500KHzI enjoyed using this signal generator and am very pleased with my purchase, however there was one glitch: it does not come with a connecting cable for the output. The output connection is BNC, so I bought separately, BNC Male to Alligator Clip, overall, though, I am very pleased.

Does what it says on the tin
Great little piece of test equipment, i added photos of it connected to the oscilloscope and as far as i can tell this works really well. It has quite a few different modes - square, sine, sawtooth, reverse sawtooth, triangle and even ECG. It even does 999999Hz pretty well (ie 1Hz less than 1MHz) and i'm fairly sure it was only advertised as high as 500KHz so exceeds expectations!

Good value signal generator
For those who are saying this didn't work, check the seller's video: you may need to adjust a screw inside the case to change the contrast on the screen. The screen on mine had also worked loose in transit and required plugging back in. The reference to battery power is a little misleading as it refers to an external battery pack - there is no facility for this to run on internal batteries.

Cheap and cheerful
Does it work? Well kind of...Frequencies are jittery making the signal difficult, no very difficult, to trigger a scope with. But, I coped :)You get what you pay for comes to mind!
