Large Aquarium Fish Tank Filter, Tidal 110 Gallon (400 Liters) by Sicce

I REALLY like this HOB filter! It is the best one I have ever owned. I am running it on my new 75 gallon aquarium. It currently has the foam and ceramic media that came with in it. I also put some polyester filter fiber, some additional ceramic media and a pack of Purigen. This filter has A TON of room for whatever media you want. I am using the Purigen to remove the tannins from the new driftwood. I am also using two large sponge filters with ceramic media in them, and finally a big canister filter. What is nice about this set up is that I can pretty much use the HOB for polishing the water and adjust that media as necessary. The three other filters can be primary bio filters. The only issue with these filters is with the packaging and the dust. Just like many other reviewers mentioned, the filter was covered in dust when I opened the package. That dust is from the bag of ceramic media that they include with this filter. The unfortunate thing about that ceramic media dust is that it acts like sandpaper. My filter looks like it has been sanded in several areas. It kind of ruins the aesthetics of the filter. It is not a deal breaker by any means. I just don't understand why SeaChem can't fix this problem. If it were up to me I would: 1) get better plastic bags that won't leak dust from the ceramic media OR 2) just don't include the ceramic media with the filter. It is annoying to get a brand new filter that looks like it is 20 years old. That being said, I love this thing! It's got good flow. It's quiet. I like that it's black and I don't have to look at dirty media. Oh, I almost forgot! The media tray lifts out AND the lid is made to carry it. Turn the lid upside down and set the media tray on the lid. The media tray clips on to the lid so you can transport the media and clean up without spilling water everywhere! What a great idea! I added a video of my Koi Betta and four more pics of the tank. Just look at that crystal clear water! This filter is really great!

Wow! What an incredible filter. Had a max filter for years with a skimmer, it was great, but bulky and required tremendous amount of work at maintenance time. This filter was up and running within an hour, working, wonderfully, quickly cleaned my tank and has been keeping things clean ever since. I have a 90 gallon tank and use it in combination with my canister filter but it’s a great addition and I highly recommend this hang on. It includes a skimmer and a number of different options in the way of using media. Even has a small detector that way you know when it’s time to change things out. Great skimmer. Great filter!

I trust Seachem for the quality of their products so when I first saw they had built an HOB filter, I had to acquire one (two actually). I’ve been keeping fish nearly 40 years, both Marine and Freshwater and used a number of different filters including several brands of canister filters. My favorite filter until this one was an Aqua Clear from Hagen (Fluval), because of the ease of maintenance and their versatility in what media can be used. My only complaint about the Aqua Clear units is that more recently, the quality of their internal parts has dipped a bit, particularly the motor shafts and impeller assembly with the result being very noisy filters. They continued to function, but were loud. With all of that said, I am impressed with the build quality, design and features of the new Tidal line of filters. I have 2 110’s running in a 60 gallon tank that is heavily populated with Convict Cichlids. Current media load is the Seachem sponge, double bags of matrix and chemi-pure with the second filter the same swapping the chemi-pure with Purigen. So far, so good - excellent flow, quiet operation and yes, crystal clear water. At this point, I’m extremely satisfied with these filters. As with all new items, reliability can only be determined through extended use. After 6 months, I’ll post an update regarding noise and function.

where to begin...so let's start with the marketing and "hype" around the product. First of all, it's not built by Seachem, rather they are endorsing their branding on an Italian company, Sicce, that actually makes this product. With that aside, let's review it for what it actually is and that is another HOB filter with some cool tricks that are mostly useless in my opinion. 1. Float indicator for media change--this thing is always popping up, even with clean water or 1 day later after replacing media. I could care less about this feature. I know when my media needs to be changed, it's set on a consistent schedule. 2. Heater holder. it's nice, great feature to integrate heater with filter and warm the water immediately pouring out. Have I used it? Nope. Why you ask? well that's b/c this all black filter has few parts that are blue that are a freakin' eye sore in an all black tank. NO worries though, just buy plasti dip, spray those little parts and you're good to go. Another $4 purchase for a very overpriced filter. 3. Skimmer. Absolutely love this feature, but MAJOR flaw, once your water level dips even a little beyond what it should normally be, you'll hear monstrous gurgling noises from this filter (normally insanely quiet, haven't heard a peep from it) 4. Telescoping intake tube-garbage. I don't even know if it works, most of the intake is done via the bottom slats and middle skimmer. 5. Waterflow vs. Aquaclear 110 (I have 3 AC 110s, only using 1 atm) in my observation, Tidal looks to have more waterflow. The air bubbles the waterfall creates are far greater so that means the impact of waterflow or at least force the water quietly comes out is father than AC. I really like the build on the waterfall feature, water quietly cascades into your tank and it's really nice. All in all, this product is really on par with the AC 110. The major win here is the auto prime which for me IS A BIG WIN b/c boy I still hate the noises AC makes when empty or takes forever to prime. Tidal is fast! clean up your media, add filter floss or w/e you like, turn it on and instantly water flow and filtering. Only time will tell how long the impeller lasts and internal parts. I love the fact the motor is on the inside, I had an AC leak from the motor housing once (years back) and it was the most irritating experience to find the seal O-ring for a decent price. How the hell do you explain a $5 O-ring price tag with added shipping charges? I don't know what it is with the Aquarium hobby and finding replacement parts.

Love these! I have two on my tank! I bought them because our power goes out a lot and I was always nervous about our filters burning out if we weren’t home - I love that these restart on their own! They’re easy to clean and it’s great that if the pump dies you can replace just that! I do wish that they sold extensions for the filter wand, but the product itself is great!

Don’t hesitate to buy! Great filter for 55-75 gal tanks.

I have it on my 120 gallon tank along with two biological filters run by powerheads. It does a good job of filtering. It's not as quiet though like I've repeatedly heard. It sounds about like the Aqua Clear except it doesn't have the vibrating from the lid like the Aqua Clears I've had did.

Great idea but just doesn't work. I liked this filter a lot at first. Self priming is awesome feature. Filter seemed large and easy to service. But after a few weeks, reality. It is loud. If tank is not 100% full. Or if tank gets a bit low, filter gets loud, and something gets messed up and so it stays loud, even after you top off tank. Sad. Changing the filter media is a nightmare. Seems like you'd just remove the basket. But doing that dumps debris into the tank and makes a huge cloudy mess. And then you realize that you need to clean the whole filter anyway. Good grief. I contacted the manufacturer. They responded but kind of ran around the issues. Wanted a video, etc. Sent parts, but no difference. I had 3 of these, all the same problems. I took all 3 off and completely disassembled them, cleaning and carefully rebuilding. They were still loud. Then after a week or so, I had to clean the basket, which made a cloudy mess again, and realized this was just a bad design. Waaaay toooo much maintenance required, and still going to be loud and messy. I switched back to the emperor 450 and it is so much better. Not perfect either, but better than this thing. Maybe they'll learn from its issues and come up with improvements to make it easier to change filter without a mess, and make it not so sensitive to water level. I wanted to like it, but ended up throwing away 3 of them.

Ein Gerät kam anscheinend aus den USA und hatte einen amerikanischen Stromstecker. Als ich mir in einem Elektronikladen einen Adapter mit Euro-Norm kaufen wollte, wurde festgestellt, dass das Gerät nur auf 110 Volt ausgelegt war und somit in Deutschland mit 230 Voltstrom nicht verwendet werden kann. Ich habe das Gerät umgehend zurückgeschickt.

This SeaChem filter is absolutely incredible! It runs quietly, efficiently, and reliably. I used to be a fan of Aquaclear but this self-priming filtration is awesome. When there's a power outage and the generator kicks in, so does the Seachem. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a great filter. I run a 90 gallon aquarium with an eheim canister and this Seachem and have NEVER had an issue.

I installed it in my 240-liter aquarium today. A wonderful filter. It’s whisper-quiet, and the aquarium looks like a flowing river. Highly recommended.
