Q: how tall are they from heel to top?

I don’t have a ruler but using a regular size sheet of paper as a guide, I would estimate about 10 1/2 inches.

Q: Can the white ones be dyed?

I purchased the black ones, so am not sure... it based on the fabric(canvas), I would imagine the white ones could be dyed. I would be careful soaking the whole thing to dye, though— not sure they’d stay structurally sound overall. Maybe with a dropper, or paintbrush/sponge application?

Yes, mine laced from the very base (near the toes) all the way up.

Q: I normally wear an 8.5 and have wide feet. Would a 9 or 10 work for me?

I would suggest the 10, personally. I wear a 9/9.5, and the 10 was too small (not to the point of discomfort, but the leather soles were not positioned correctly). I ended up ordering another pair, in 10.5 , which worked WAY better.
