Was in two minds on whether buy this as I was using the cheaper stones I purchased from Amazon.. The biggest difference is that the burr is achieved very quickly and you can maintain the edge angle more reliably due to this.. sharpening took half the time.. very smooth stone..

Excellent stone, much harder and more resistive to gouging compared to the Naniwa Superstones. It cuts quite fast, but compared to the cheap 1000 grit synthetic stones you can find on Amazon, this is more like a polishing/finishing or even honing stone - zero risk of scratching. They are pricey, but these stones are so much better than every other stone type I have, I won't ever buy anything else. Plus the chosera stones are so large and deep, I'm sure my kids will be inheriting my collection after I die, still with many good years left in them. In the Chosera line, I have this stone, and a 5000 grit, and plan to add a 400 and 10K (when my 12K Superstone gets too dented to use), plus maybe a 3000 and a 16K later on.

Blades are smooth as silk and as sharp as a razor after using this fine piece of stone.
