This door closer was easy to install, even on my metal door. The screws are quite strong and handle the spring tension well without any issues. I did encounter a couple of minor issues. First, with the adjustment settings: when I set it to the hole closest to the ideal force, the door slams too hard if opened wide. However, if I move the adjustment to the next hole, the door doesn't close completely when opened just a little, and the latch doesn't engage. Second, the pin that holds the spring feels a bit loose in its hole. While it's unlikely to fall out on its own due to the spring tension, it would be better if the hole had threading so the pin could be screwed in securely rather than just inserted. For now, I'm keeping it on the stronger setting and will add a rubber bumper to the door stop to prevent the metal from hitting the frame too hard. Despite these minor issues, it's a solid product that does the job.

Works well. Easy installation. We have a gate that MUST be closed during certain hours. This helps those a little less mindful. I did have to tighten it one notch after a few weeks use, but holding up well otherwise.

I first tried a pair of self-closing hinges. I got hinges rated for 2X the weight of my gate and I left the standard hinges installed so the self closers didn’t have the full weight of the gate on them. I cranked up the closing power as far as it would go but couldn’t get them to close my gate. I didn’t expect them to latch the gate, just close it all the way. After the gate was left open and I was chasing dogs all over the neighborhood, I switched my gate to open in so when the dogs jumped against it, they weren’t pushing it open. With this self closing gadget, it will latch the gate if the gate is let go while opened enough but even if I let it go when it’s only open a couple of inches, it closes the gate all the way. Win! I was afraid I wouldn’t like how it looks but I don’t even notice it anymore. A few days after installation I had to adjust it but that took about 60 seconds. 10/10 would buy again.

This spring is true to the description and made with good quality. I installed it on my new gate using the included screws, which are strong enough for the job. The only issue was that the included metal adjustment rod is too weak and bent when I tried to turn the spring more than a couple of notches. I used a screwdriver instead, so it wasn't a major issue. Overall, it works very well once installed and adjusted to the desired tension.

Item works as described and has been very useful as an auto gate closer. Being able to select the closing tension is very nice.

These gate springs were fairly easy to install, and I really like the black finish. They look much better than some of the more industrial-looking options and blend in nicely with the fence. The spring does what it’s supposed to do and helps our gate close on its own, even though we have grass underneath the gate. That’s a big plus because it keeps the gate from being accidentally left open. My biggest complaint is that they started to rust fairly quickly. They look pretty dull now also. I expected them to hold up better since they’re designed for outdoor use. The rust doesn’t prevent them from working, but it definitely takes away from the appearance. These pictures are taken at a year of use but the rust happened awhile ago. Overall, they’re easy to install and work well for getting the gate to close automatically. I just wish the finish was more weather-resistant and held up better outdoors.

Works as advertised. One problem is the narrow pin used to adjust tension is a bit too short to get good leverage. I used a longer nail. I think all are sold this way since I've replaced these before.
