FEL-PRO has been around my whole life. They make great gaskets that are less expensive than OEM. I didn't want any problems as this valve cover gasket does take some time to replace. My step daughter was having to add oil periodically and I was worried about the engine running low on oil. No more leaks. Doesn't use any oil between changes.

Fel-Pro 50639 R-1 (R-2 version is for later models). Blue in color, awesome for a gasket (visual aid). Good value for money considering it comes with both the valve cover gasket itself, AND it’s four spark plug tube seals. Not all sellers do this. Durable material. Trustworthy brand. Replacement on 2010 mazda6 2.5l (“MZR/Duratec engine” …actually mostly by Ford Motor Co. when they were in the sheets on the side with Mazda for a hot minute).

The engine light in my 2004 Mazda6 4-cylinder is turned on and the car will shake and hesitate while idle and accelerating. Autozone diagnosis is to get a tune up (spark plugs and ignition coils). While replacing the sparks plug, I notice some oil in the spark plug holes number 2 and 3. It seems like the deteriorating valve cover gasket is the source of the oil leak. I got this Felpro valve cover gasket to replace the old one along with the spark plugs and ignition coils. It has been two days, and the engine light is gone and so far no more oil leak. I give four stars because of an issue during the installation of the outside gasket (blue color). While the three little inside gasket (black color) are rather snug fit, the outside one is a bit loose. Several times the outside gasket will always fell out of its groove and dangle because it is not a tight fit when the valve cover was being repositioned. Eventually four mini bungee cords are used to hold it in its groove. After that it is easy to install the valve cover back, the bungee cords are pulled out carefully, the bolts are torqued to 6 ft-lbs and it works great.

Perfect fitment and easy installation on 2010 Ford Duratec 2.0. **This is the gaskets you will need if your spark plugs wells are full of engine oil** All 4 gaskets were simply a pleasure to install in their valve cover grooves. Figure approximately 60 minutes of wrenching and most of all cleaning and preparing surfaces. There is 14 valve cover stud/bolts. Each will need to be torque down in the proper sequence to 89inches-pound. Also make sure you have some gasket maker available for those 2 casting marks where the cylinder head meets the timing cover. This step is often forgotten! Fel-Pro is really a premium quality source when it comes to automotive gaskets. *UPDATE DECEMBER 2024: valve cover area has not developed any leaks after 3 years and approximately 30000km extra mileage. Follow Ford workshop manual with this quality part and you will be golden*
