Would this work to pick up from a seated position on the floor? Right now if I fall my hubby dead lifts me from behind under my arm & it hurts/bruises

It has handles that go under your arms so it would aid in lifting up from the floor. I usually just lift my mom out of a chair while in a seated position. I never tried to pick her up from the floor. If she ends up on the floor i have to get paramedics because she weighs 360 pounds and i cant lift her by myself.

Does the belt have a lock?

There is no lock on the belt...just handles to lift up a person...

how dose it work for a large bone person ?

It worked well for my husband he was 6’4” but not big boned Have you tried a folded beach towel... they work about the same
