Canaan Fair Trade Organic Cold-Pressed Jerusalem Olive Oil, 16.9 oz

I bought this product to see if Palestinian olive oil lived up to what people have told me; it did. The flavor is very buttery and rich, even more so than your standard olive oil, but it's balanced out by a smooth minerality, mild bitterness, and peppery finish. My friends were pretty evenly split among loving and hating it because of the bitterness. If you're used to the more grassy and mild Italian and Greek style olive oils, you'll probably dislike this. If you like fresh olives and more Levantine styles olive oils, this will be one of your favorites. If you were buying this product to financially the people of Palestine and their struggle against Apartheid, I'd recommend buying Nablus soap. It's less expensive but still made in the West Bank using traditional methods.

I can't stop bragging to people I love about how wonderful this olive oil is. I really love all the products from Canaan. You can taste and see the care, quality, and thoughtfulness they put into their products. I absolutely love all the flavor profiles and find it to be a wonderful addition to my kitchen ingredients. I find myself reaching for Canaan olive oils more than any other and have been making the switch to incorporate fair-trade olive oils with purpose and meaning into my cooking and consuming. Just a wonderful brand and truly a tasty olive oil collection. It's a must try!

Richest olive oil I’ve ever had

I am so absolutely thrilled with my Canaan Fair Trade Organic Jenin Palestine Olive Oil! 🇵🇸

The bottle that we received looked like the photo, with the lovely minimalist label. The olive oil itself is fantastic, smooth but with a good olive flavour and no discernable bitterness. It is the perfect addition to salads or finishing dishes. This isn't an olive oil I would use to cook food with (I prefer the lighter flavoured Tunisian olive oil for frying / roasting), but rather one to finish dishes or add to cold preparations where its flavour can really shine. It is truly a delicious and special olive oil, and not inexpensive but definitely worth it, particularly if you cook a lot of Mediterranean / Arab cuisine.

The only dressing that I use on a salad is olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar so I do a lot of product sampling. This product is the gold standard. There is no downside to this olive oil. It's flavorful. Not too heavy. Just perfect in every way.

This olive oil has the lightest color with the sweetest flavor of any others out there. The only problem is that fair trade can not exist under a brutal occupation and Jenin is in the heart of it. I could not not say something after seeing the images coming out of there. Our humanity is at stake if we turn away.
