Takes a minute but they're awesome
Quick pros and cons 1. The cable between the two speakers is ~5ft long. This is great for me I have a 2-monitor set-up and I needed to find a pair with a cable long enough to put them on either side. These do that with room to spare. 2. The sound is clear. It actually took me by surprise. My last pair were a little more bassy so I thought something was off but really it's just better sound reproduction. I do a lot of audio recording (voiceovers for videos, podcasting) and my voice sounds good on these. It also captures reverb very well (damn reverb, need to upgrade my audio set up next!) 3. These sound nice. The highs aren't bad, the mids aren't bad, and the bass isn't bad. I mean they're not like amazing great but these are also $25 speakers. This is probably the best noise I've ever gotten out of $25 speakers. 4. My last pair of speakers were USB powered and I grew to hate that. These are AC powered (6ft long power cable) and that makes me happy. 5. The volume has a good, high quality feel to it. 6. The speakers are deceptively light and made of plastic, but they look really nice with my whole set up. 7. The 2.5" drivers per speaker definitely do their job. Also, these speakers can get pretty loud before getting all nasty sounding. Not like rattle-the-windows loud, but definitely louder than you'll need them to be. Cons 1. The tone knob is rubbish. Put it in the center and use your computer's system equalizer if you need to mess with it. 2. These things are huge! Easily the size of my forearm. I wasn't expecting them to be that large. It ended up not being a problem (hence no stars removed). 3. Read other thoughts Other Thoughts These things take a bit to "burn in". I had them shipped and it's winter time so they may have just been cold but the first couple of hours I spent tweaking every setting on my computer trying to figure out why everything sounded so muted. The bass sounded fine, but the mids and highs sounded a tad muffled (like the sound you get when you put your hand over a speaker. I turned the music off, reset everything to default (where I had started from) and let them chill for a few hours. Then, while I was out, I put them up on moderate volume and, without messing with any equalizers, put some music on and left them playing for 5 or so hours. Once they warmed up and got a little burn in, they sounded much better. For most cases I use default on all the system noises but in Winamp I chose a preset that boosts the bass and treble a little bit. Even when burnt in, the lows and bass need a little boosting to keep up with the mids. Now I'm quite happy with how everything sounds. They require a little work, but once you get them settled in these are a fantastic pair of speakers and probably among the best you can get until you start getting into 2.1 speakers. *****Update August 1st, 2014***** I bought a second pair of these speakers. My girlfriend's speakers died and I gave her the original ones I bought (still going strong after 7 months) and I bought myself another pair. This time it was shipped during the summer so the speakers weren't submitted to the harsh, frigid cold of winter time like the first pair. Thanks to this, the problems I experienced the first time around were much less pronounced and much easier to fix. The "burn-in" wasn't really required at all and once I got the volume and such configured everything worked pretty well. It took me about a day with the first pair but this time around it only took a couple of hours of use before they sounded good. I guess that means most of the problems were simply because they were cold when I first plugged them in. It keeps its 5 star rating. I have bought two of these and would buy a third. I'll update if either of these break down but until then, I'm still happy with my purchase. Still gets my vote on the best $25 speakers around. I'd say I'd buy them again but I just kind of did so yeah I'd probably buy them a third time. *****Update May 6th, 2015***** Happened to be goofing around notice that this was the highest rated review. Cool! So I thought I'd do an update. Both sets of these speakers still work flawlessly (my girlfriend's pair that I gave her and my current pair). They both still sound great. If these broke, I would still buy these over again (unless, of course, I had like some serious cash to spend on a serious set of speakers). I still do my audio recordings, albeit on much better hardware than before. My recordings still sound great on these. I've had no problems with them whatsoever. They survived moving without breaking and a fried motherboard without flinching. I still recommend these to people :) *****Update December 18th, 2016***** Still the best ~$25 speakers out there. Both pairs still work after years of use. These days I have to keep the sound down as my roommate works night shift so these actually didn't get used for about 10 months (been using headphones). Turned em on and cranked em up a bit and it's the same old speakers I remember. Again, I proclaim, that unless I'm spending serious money on serious speakers, these are still my cheap go-to speakers. So happy they still sell these. *****Update December 16, 2017***** Still own these. They still work now 3 years later. They're basically permanent placements on my desk. I would still recommend these to anyone looking for good, cheap speakers. *****Final update: January 26, 2024****** Friends, my 10 year extravaganza has come to an end. They worked great, and technically, they actually still work. However, one of the speakers blew and cackles at anything other than low volume. I replaced them with a pair of Edifier MR4 because it's been 10 years and it's time for some big-boy speakers. I will miss these Logitechs. The best $25 speakers I ever had.

Great price, great product, great sound.
Allow me to just start out by saying that I'm just your average Joe. I will boldly say that if you read this review all the way through you will probably have the best idea of whether this is right for you. I'm a senior in college and don't have money to just throw away, not yet at least. Nothing makes me happier than when I can say that I found a deal. I guess I get that from my dad. I'm really not the kind of person who just says "Yeah, five stars!!! Bestest product of all time!!!" something has to be incredibly worthy or terrible to get me to write a review about it. Haha, luckily for Logitech, the former applies to these speakers and everything they advertised about this product is well deserved. Let me paint the picture. I was looking for some quality speakers and my limit was about 30 or 40 dollars. I'm not looking for studio quality speakers (although I would say that these are great mid-tiers), just something better than my built in speakers on my monitor. I saw these online and no matter where I went, I would keep gravitating back towards them. My caveat that makes me unique is that I was looking for a two speaker only setup with great sound; I already have my desktop down below the desk by my big 'ol feet and I would be fighting for room with a sub-woofer down there as well. That being said, these two big guys offer about the best sound short of buying a subwoofer equipped setup. I'm not being biased when I say they were actually more than what I hoped for. For about $25 you get two large speakers with more than enough cable room to put them wherever you want on your desk and great sound. As I read when considering buying these, someone wrote that they're about the size of two red bricks, and they are about spot on. Go outside and find two bricks and put them on your desk; that's about the right size, maybe even a bit bigger. To me, the size is nothing but a plus but I can understand why some wouldn't want large speakers. They look almost intimidating sitting here looking like I paid a lot more for them than I did and the size helps Logitech make good on their word that they pump out quality bass. The bass is solid, about the best I've heard in non-subwoofer setups. Yeah, you could have better bass, but not in just two speakers like these unless you go Bose or something. There is an adjustment wheel on the right speaker that you're going to just want to turn all the way up. It boosts the bass and treble very well. I've never had to take them past about half power on the sound nob except to test them right now. There's no static sound that I can hear no matter how high I go up, and that treble sound that fills the room when listening to music is incredible. In the end, I can't really think about any negatives that are worth mentioning. The do exactly what they are supposed to do. They sound great when I play games or music, and have an ambiance quality to them like you've put on headphones on and want to be left alone. Granted, I've only had these for about two weeks but I have a feeling they will last a long while. Heck, for the price they could last six months and you'd probably get your money's worth. If you want a more expensive setup with surround sound and deep bass then you're not looking in the right place, but I would imagine the sound I'm hearing would cost me about $40, not $25, so I don't see how you could be disappointed with these speakers.

Vary good, but not as good as Logitech X-140.
I would like to right this review based on the price and the style. To many reviews say "spend $XX more and get this" or "2.1 setup is better". I will assume that if you are looking at these speakers you know how much money you want to spend and are looking at a 2.0 setup because you want a 2.0 setup. I purchased these for my girlfriends computer that is used for light gaming, music, and streaming Netflix. These are replacing a set of $10 Cyber Acoustics CA-2012 2.0 speaker that died. She tried using the built in speakers on her monitor but they were really quite and sad sounding. So she asked for replacement speakers and so i looked to Logitech due to good experience i have had with there $30 Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers, that i use at work, and my amazing $200 Logitech Z-2300 2.1 THX speakers on my gaming computer. Pros -Looks these look fantastic for the price. -They sound vary good at this price point. Miles way from the $10 speaker and light years way from the monitor speakers. -The cable connecting the speaker together is plenty long for most single/duel monitor setups. (it is permanently attached) -At this price/size you cant hope for more bass -Can push the volume to fill a large room with sound without distortion (just don't expect to shake the walls) -Volume button is large and feels like it is well constructed. Cons -These don't sound quite as nice as the Logitech X-140 2.0. The X-140 have a more balanced/defined sound. - ½ star -at low volume the (quite office listening volumes) sounds a little muffled. - ½ star -Tone button is cheap, poorly placed. - ½ star -Light/cheap feeling plastic construction, but fit and finish is nice. The X-140 have a heavier plastic and metal mesh grill. -They are vary light, Deceptively light given there size. They can easily be pushed/pulled around on a desk. Something to keep in mind if you have cats or a vary busy desk. Other things -This has a AC adapter that is similar in size to a cell phone charger the plugs into the back of the speakers. Its not vary long 4'-5' i would guess. In closing these are vary good speakers. I would defiantly recommend them to anyone but i would also have them look at the Logitech X-140. The Z200 win the looks, and X-140 win the sound. I don't think you will go wrong with ether of them, but if i were to get another 2.0 set it would be the X-140.

Great sounding low cost speakers. Ideal for a laptop/desktop computer setup
Just unpacked these and hooked them up to my Acer Aspire laptop. They have a great sound right out of the box. Right now I don't think I will worry about any bass/treble boost so often needed with smaller speakers to make them sound better. I haven't tried to separate the speakers too far apart yet because I have them sitting on top of a half wall behind my table, and the cable from my laptop to the right speaker isn't long enough to allow me to move the right speaker as far as I want. THIS IS NOT A FAULT OF THE SPEAKERS! I just want to separate the speakers more than they are now, and have just ordered a Cables to Go audio extension cord from Amazon to help me place them where I want to. This is my second set of Logitech speakers for my computers. Both times the setup was easy and the performance is/was great. I would still being using my first set except I lost them along with everything else in my then apartment. 26/6/2020 Just want to clarify - the reason i haven't separated my speakers further is not due to the length of the cable between the speakers, but the length of the cable from the right speaker to my laptop earphone jack. The way my system is set up the cord is not long enough to allow me to move the right speaker any further to the right which means the left speaker isn't as far out as I would like either, since I need to keep the sound balanced. I have a 1/4" extension cable ordered, and when it gets here I will be able to move the right speaker further over and the left speaker just as far in the opposite direction to give me the stereo separation I want. Also, I played with the tone knob [bass boost knob] a little and found that for me, the correct setting is a little less than centered - YMMV. Still, great speakers, especially for the price.

Hands down the best 2.0 speakers I've used so far!
Having gone through a few budget computer speakers in the $20-$30 range now, I would definitely recommend these. I've been using this with a portable computer box for older games and media. Originally I had a pair of powered $10 Inland speakers from 1995. While they worked great in their day, they have a lot of buzz and distortion when the volume was turned up to 1/4 max. For 2.0 speakers, they've always had great volume and bass in spite of that so I just took that for granted as being of standard quality. A few years ago, I noticed a lot more low-cost USB computers speakers and figured that technology must have improved a lot since then. USB powered would have no more power brick taking up extra outlets and maybe better quality due to perceived advances over the years. Turns out sound quality might actually be worse with USB than good old plug-in powered speakers. I tried two different brand USB speakers. Both of these looked better aesthetically than they sounded. The first was a mini 3-piece set called HTRise X7. The subwoofer sounded flat, max volume was low, and the speaker cable was too short. I then tried the Elegiant USB sound bar. The sound on this was even worse with no bass at all, low volume, and hiss at any audible levels. It was also slightly more than these Logitechs and sounded no better than built-in monitor speakers. I then decided to switch to these Z200s. None of those issues exist now. No power brick, just a single cord that plugs into one outlet. Max volume is actually loud. No hiss or distortion unless you max it out which is more or less expected. There's even a bass control dial that doesn't really make a big difference to me, but it's nice to know there's some control there. Unlike the other speakers, this one isn't flat even though it's 2 speakers. Maybe it's because it's not USB powered and that's just the nature of how those products are, but I definitely would recommend these over anything USB powered in this range. That being said, I'm rating this a 5 considering these are $20-$30 desktop 2.0 speakers. In that respect, they are better than built-in monitor speakers but not as good as a higher end speakers with subwoofers and such which is what we should expect them to be.

Don't be fooled. These are not 2-way speakers. UPDATE: Started buzzing after a month.
The bottom driver on each speaker is not an active driver aka does not produce any sound. Frankly, this feels like false advertising and should be clearly noted on the site. Instead, the description seems to allude that the bottom driver is an actual speaker when it is really a passive "resonating membrane". Looking inside, it is clear that the bottom membrane has no magnet or wires. So, when it comes down to it, you are being sold what appears to be a pair of 2-way speakers and receiving a pair of 1-way speakers. On the other hand, these speakers are well designed. The 1 driver that has a magnet does have a substantial magnet. I'd say the sound quality out of these speakers is best in class (2.0 setup in the $20 - $50 price range) out of anything I've heard. The larger driver does make a big difference in sound reproduction. At 10 watts, they have higher sound output than most speakers under $75 with very little distortion at high volume. These speakers have more and better bass than I've heard out of similar setups. The overall sound quality is a bit muddy but what can you expect from $25 speakers. I'd even recommend these over the Bose Companion 2 speakers which did distort easily at high volume and can't hold a candle to the sound output on these (I returned the Bose). I bought 2 sets of these and use 1 for my computer and 1 for the TV. It works very nicely in both situations. With a computer the small footprint fits well on my desk. They are suitable for watching movies, gaming, listening to music, and general youtube and skype and such. At the TV they are a cheap but significant upgrade over the built in speakers on most any flat panel TV. I'd even go as far as to recommend these over most (not all) sound-bars or theater in a box setups as those often have very cheap components, and low quality sound, that are just designed to pump out volume (often distorted) and gimmicky surround sound features that can't compare to a legitimate home theater setup. To sum up, you won't be DJing any parties with these, but they are very functional and higher quality than most speakers under $50. If you're looking for something a bit higher end check out the Cerwin Vega XD3, I use those for music in the living room and they are the best pair I've found in the $100 price range. UPDATE: The left speaker started buzzing a little after a month and the return window closed 1 week ago. It buzzes no matter what volume and no matter what I'm playing. I set these at half volume and they're plugged into my laptop. Poor durability/quality control. Now I have useless speakers that I can't return. I may have just got a bad set, they sounded good when they worked.

Great speakers
I bought these speakers to use with my computer. I needed something that sounded good, with decent bass, that would also allow for easy headphone use and volume control. These did not disappoint! The pros: - They're fairly cheap, at around $20. - They sound incredible. I mean, I'm no expert on speakers and sound quality, but these have by far the clearest sound out of all the PC speakers I've had. And they bring quite a lot of bass with them, which is nice (and adjustable, as I mention below). - Volume is easy to control with the large dial and there's a scroll on the side that allows you to adjust the tone. The cons: - They're big. Tall. Like little towers next to my monitor. It's not that big a deal for me, but some might be put off by it. - The speaker openings... I don't know what they're called. The mesh-like stuff in front of where the sound actually vibrates out. They're a bit fragile, or they feel like it, so I'm afraid they'll break or tear easily if they fall off my desk onto something. Neutral note: I've had them for a few months now and so far they've worked wonders, but I do have two, rather large cats who like to run across my desk and knock things over. So far, these little tower speakers have held up just fine to being knocked over, but it's still a concern of mine that they may be more fragile than I need them to be. I'll try to update this review with how they're working a few months from now. I plan to take good care of them, though, because the sound they bring is worth the extra effort. I love these speakers -- by far the best I've had. They bring clarity to the music I listen to (a lot of classical works and cinematic compositions) and the adjustable tone is a huge bonus for me. They were well worth the price! Update: I purchased these guys in March of 2017. It's now nearly March of 2019, and these guys are still going strong. They've been dropped, toppled over, and violently unplugged (thanks to my obnoxious cats, mostly) and they still work perfectly. I LOVE these speakers! Another update, from April 2020: After three years of nearly daily use for house at a time, after being knocked over and off my desk by rambunctious cats, these speakers are still working perfectly. Easily one of my best purchases.

Great entry level speaker set from Logitech!
Great upgrade from the built in speakers in the monitor. Understanding that these are only 2.0 and lacking in bass, but they have a nice clean sound in the mids and highs. For the price, they're a great value. Also, they have an extra 3.5mm jack in the front speaker to allow you to play music from a phone or MP3 player through the speakers. And they also have a 3.5mm headphone jack that passes sound from the primary source (usually a computer) to the headphones and automatically mutes the speakers. Also features a tone control dial that raises or lowers the bass (a little bit at least). Turning the tone towards the plus did improve the sound for me. One of our computers has the Logitech Z130 speakers, which were fine, but I definitely feel the Z200 are an upgrade in sound and features (specifically the auxiliary 3.5mm jack for a 2nd input source). For the price, these are a great speaker. Again, as a part-time system builder, this would be the default speaker I would sell with a new computer system. Then the next tier of speaker I'd recommend/sell would be the Logitech Z313, a 2.1 set with a volume which we have on the school laptop in its desk "home station" or possibly the Z333, which is a step up in power and sound quality in 2.1 speakers. For the gaming PC in the house, we have the Logitech Z506 surround speaker set, which is very loud and sounds great for under $60. For the audiophile gamer, you can step up to the Z623 or Z906, depending on 2.1 or 5.1 THX certified. Lots of options available, but the Logitech Z200 is a great entry level speaker.

Budget speakers that outperform their price point.
They sound pretty great. I certainly wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but they sound as good as my expensive headphones. The only time I really use them is when I'm playing a game with someone else in the room or blasting some music. They work great for both those situations. The volume knob is very nice and linear, though it sometimes makes a bit of a pop if you switch it off very slowly. I love that I can plug my headphones into the speaker. It's a bit like having a DAC in that I can easily adjust the volume. The line in is really nice too when I want to play music off of my phone. The "tone" knob really didn't seem to do anything worthwhile. Supposedly it adjusts the bass, but I found the bass perfectly good at the normal setting, and changing it didn't seem to produce any noticeable difference. Personally, if I was going to mess with the bass I would use an EQ anyways. The knob doesn't negatively impact anything though, so you might find it more useful than me, and it's certainly no detriment. The speakers themselves look fantastic. The black & white is striking but not too much so. It matches my desktop's colour scheme, so that's a bonus. I like that they're nice and tall, they look great sitting next to my monitor. The construction is fairly sturdy, but you wouldn't want to be moving them around all the time, as that's really not what they're meant for. They're heavy enough that my cat doesn't knock them over which is good. The exposed cones of the speakers could be a problem if you live with kids. They look nice, but could be easily damaged. For me it's a non-issue though. The price is what really makes these worthwhile. I picked them up at under 30 bucks, and for that price they're absolutely amazing.
