Pretty good start
~3.5/5I know that this isn’t a selling point for Kaori Yuki, but I always find her storylines a little confusing. They are messy and complicated and gothic, and they get confusing to me, almost always. But I still say, unashamed and completely honestly, that I love them, and will always come back to them. This series is being released in hardback, with a color page, and thick pages, and I love it. It’s a beautiful book, and definitely worth picking up.This series stars three childhood friends; the rich one (Garan), his betrothed (Kiyora), and the friend he saved (Sorath). We meet them, see how close they are, see some hinted darker things going on. And then things turn real dark, real fast, with demons. Sorath is the main character here, with a possibly surprising heritage, and some serious betrayals happening. There’s also a doll made to life that I’m really intrigued by.I don’t even know what else to say about this. It’s surprising and messy and dark; the art style is beautiful and gothic. I really enjoyed it, and am really looking forward to the next one.[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]

blah
Honestly I was really disappointed with this one. Kaori Yuki has set such as high standard for excellence with her previous works. It was choppy and confusing for much of the story. Things were thrown together without much leading into it that it didn't mesh correctly. Considering this is one of her recent works it can't be dismissed as a folly of inexperience. However it's a nice addition to the collection, it certainly wasn't worth the price.

and while that makes it a bit weird to hold if you're used to the easily flipped soft cover of usual manga books
Just got this today at my local bookstore! It's rare to find a manga with a hard back, and while that makes it a bit weird to hold if you're used to the easily flipped soft cover of usual manga books, it gives a feeling of higher quality and feels like it's a lot less likely to get bent and messed up. Following Kaori Yuki's usual flare of dark macabre mixed with demons and romance, if you love Godchild,Cain Saga, Angel Sanctuary or any of her other fantastic works, you're bound to love this one! I fell in love with this immediately and can't wait till the next volume is available!
