Can you use it without a filter?

Yes and also you have poeple claiming the stones don't work. The reason it doesn't work for them is because they are filtering the water after it's alkline for example in a gravity fed filter like Berkeley which removes the minerals required for alkaline as it passes through the filters resulting in lower pH. The water should be filtered first then added to the stones.

Why would using the stones expose you to lead, is there lead in the stones?

California Prop 65 flags all water filtration products as being potential for lead exposure. These mineral stones are natural Maifan stones or Bakuhanseki which have naturally occurring traces of lead (no more than the amount you might find in anything mined from earth).

Should I take the old minerals out of the santivia before replacing?

Yes if you’ve had them for 2 years. Check the Santevia Water Systems Mineral Stones website if in doubt what to do.

Does this contain the precious prills?
