Diese Kekse schmecken gut, sind sehr lange haltbar und wir haben sie zum Beispiel im Auto immer dabei, man weiß ja nie, ob man vielleicht länger im Stau stehen muss, oder auch wenn ein Kind glaubt, dass es mal wieder kurz vor dem Hungertot steht ... auf Reisen oder auf Trekkingtouren immer wärmstens zu empfehlen. Wir haben eine größere Menge auch für zu Hause angelegt, für eventuell schlechte Zeiten. Wichtig ist für uns, dass die Kekse schmecken und sehr nach Haft sind, dass man damit also eine gute Zeit über die Runden kommen kann wenn dies notwendig ist. Diese Kriterien erfüllt diese Keks. Er ist extrem lange haltbar und natürlich entsprechend verpackt

With every long term ration purchase, I like to try it before I buy a truckload and put them on the shelf. Truthfully, I was expecting cardboard with a hint of medium density fiberboard. What I tasted with a ever so slightly stale dense cracker that had a hint of sweetness. The texture landed somewhere in between a hard Teddy graham and a dense DiGiorno pizza dough (I know, random but its the closest parallel I could get to. Even made one to verify!). I broke the package open and was happy to see that the main large foil package had 4 sub packages inside it so it was easy to try one and save the other 3. Gave one to my wife, parents and dog and made them all try it. I only told them "Survival cracker" and after breaking into it they ALL had a surprised look and all said the same thing "Thats not bad!". I also tried dipping mine in my coffee and it softened it up considerably and was no problem to chomp through. My dog though - my dog was the most surprising of all. He is a 12 year old Corgi who has been spoiled his whole life and has turned into quite the picky treat eater in his old age. He will READILY refuse the basic Milk Bone biscuit and opts for things on the sweet spectrum. I gave him a chunk (they are easy enough to put in the palm of your hand, push in the middle of the cracker and get 4 equal sized pieces out of one) and he sniffed it. Gently took it. Put it down, nibbled and then grabbed the whole thing and wanted more. THAT was the biggest surprise: he absolutely LOVES them. So I drank some coffee and we ate biscuits for breakfast the next morning and I honestly enjoyed it. In a pinch, these would be easy to eat. You dont have to force them down like other calorie bars and they arent so hard that you'll break out fillings and crowns. If you dont like hard, then dip them in some milk, coffee or hot chocolate and they will soften right up and make it right easy to eat. Mine arrived with 3 years of shelf life from the day of receipt in early October 2024, which was perfect for my purposes and would easily keep for longer in a vacuum sealed bag. Buy with confidence knowing that they aren't like eating bark or MDF and are actually pretty OK plain and border on good with a cup of coffee.

Honestly, I bought these so many years ago, and when I started making my own, I forgot about them. However, recently I looked in my hardtack container and found one package of these remaining under my homemade pieces. I guess I was saving it for emergencies. Regardless, I want to give an honest review now that I've tried and made traditional hardtack. I enjoyed these. My packages were not broken and remained sealed; even the one that has been in the container all this time is in good condition. Unlike traditional hardtack (I've noticed), this product was dry but also easy on the teeth. The flavor reminded me of an animal cracker, but without the intense sugar. It's caloriedense, but I never really paid attention to that in the beginning. As for value for money, I'm kind of on the fence. On one hand, the product is already made, sealed, and ready whenever. On the other hand, for the same cost of the 4 packages, I could make more of my own than the 4 packages combined that last just as long (though I don't know about calorie count). I'm sure with enough digging, I could make something pretty similar in taste and hardness, but if you're someone who is getting into products like these but doesn't know how to make stuff like this, then go for it and purchase this because they're good. but also, look on youtube or forums, heck many books have their own recipes.
