Excellent document camera with great macro
This is a great document camera and exceeded my expectations. It has great resolution, color reproduction, and macro focus down to about 2" (see picture). It has a 5-level LED ring light to illuminate your subject. Although the light may not seem too bright, it does a very good job on-screen as the camera has pretty good low-light capabilities. Despite what another reviewer said, it does have zoom capabilities. It's digital and looks to be 2X magnification, although it's not specified anywhere. While zoomed in, there are two buttons that will allow you to adjust the view up or down digitally. There's a button to force the auto focus if your picture is still out of focus. Finally, there's a rotate/mirror button that will rotate the camera view 180 degrees and change between direct view and mirrored image. The built-in mic does a pretty good job of picking up audio, too.It comes on a swingarm stand similar to desklamps with arms that are approximately 10" long from hinge to hinge. While it would be nice if the arms were slightly longer, it's a far better solution than what I've tried with camera mounts, action cams, and my phone. The camera is powered by the USB-A cable, so no additional power supply is required. I plugged it into my iMac, and it worked perfectly without any issues or need to install anything. I did find that when I switch away to other apps and then come back, the camera returns to the default image setting so that the image top is same as the camera top and mirrored. For my use, I want the picture rotate 180 degrees, because I would have the stand farther away from me so that I can work under the camera without any interference. The mirrored setting really only makes sense to me for using it as a webcam. This could be a function of the app and not the camera, but it's something you would want to be aware of if you think you would need to switch between apps often while recording video.Other reviewers complained about the positioning of the controls when using this as a webcam, but this camera is primarily intended to be shooting downward to display things on your desk. My primary interest was in being able to capture projects from a consistent vantage point while leaving my hands free to work. While this camera can be used as a webcam for Zoom, FaceTime, Teams, etc., it's primary focus is for use in sharing documents. Likewise, it's not intended for document preservation. While it can do that in a pinch, much like using your phone's camera, you're better off using an actual document scanner for document archiving/preservation.I received this camera as part of the Amazon Vine program, so this was provided to me for review at no cost other than tax. I don't know if I would be able to justify the price, but it is a solid setup with great picture quality, and it perfectly suits its intended purpose plus being flexible enough to use as a web cam. I've received other products touting 4K UHD cameras that produced pictures with quality to rival a 320x240 webcam, and this one actually delivers. Pictures look great on my 5K iMac. In the end, cost is a personal decision, and as far as quality of the kit itself goes, it deserves 5 stars in my opinion.

Love/hate
I love this camera, but then I hate it. If it goes unused for awhile it resets the setting. I do also use this to record me painting through twitch because i also do live streams.I’m still working through the kinks. I feel like I haven’t found the right settings. The light on this camera is useless. I didn’t even notice it was on.I also have a fuzzy images for being in 4k, but part of that can be do to my lighting issues. I’m not a fan of the software they want you to use, but it seems fairly simple to navigate by trail and error. The only instructions were one page. The software for this camera is located on the camera and not on the instructions. If I manage to sort everything out i’ll be sure to change the rating.

No hassles document cam and good second-angle video conferencing cam
Worked on a Mac right out of the box (no drivers or other software needed to be installed; it just showed up as an available camera). In Zoom, I was able to select it and easily share documents. The autofocus can be a little distracting if you are putting your hands in and out of the frame, so the product has a focus "lock" button that will lock the focus where it's set so your hands don't get it confused and have the camera trying to focus on your hands, then the doc, then your hands, etc. Very nice touch. The attached photo was one that I took after first setting the thing up. It shows the instruction manual (hey, why not?) which is about 8.25x11.25" and was slightly creased in shipping [which is why you see the different light and dark patches]. I took no special care whatsoever, just threw it on the table, let the camera focus on it, and snapped the picture. Let's face it, we're usually not trying to make fine art when using a doc camera, but rather to share content. This thing does a very good job at that with basically no hassle at all.You can also use it as a "camera 2" if you want for streaming or to give some additional variety in your presentations. The reason I say it's better as a camera 2 than a main camera is that the ring light is very tight to the camera and so you'd be prone to squinting if you were using the light on it. I have mine setup now as a down-looking camera 2 on the left side of my desk, mostly for use to show documents or objects on the desk. It does have a microphone, so you could use it as your only camera for video conferencing. You would probably want to turn off the ring light and use other lighting in that case.Very good product.

Rather disappointed
There were some indications in the advertisement on Amazon that this could function as a document camera. No, it cannot, in the true sense of the words. If you intended to scan pages for long term preservation electronically, you're NOT going to get the kind of resolution you'd want to have. Yes, documents are likely to be readable when projected to an audience, but resolution won't be great.Instructions were very limited. If used with the camera pointed horizontally and toward the user, manipulation of the various controls on the back side is basically not possible. For vertical use to show documents with a projector, the operator can easily see the controls, and if the operator is behind the camera, the controls are also easily visible. But when used as a web cam, for example (pointed at the user), it's impossible to see the controls on the back side. And if using the camera as a web came for something like Zoom for example, don't even try to use the variable light - it's just too much glare even on the lowest brightness setting.I got this at no out-of-pocket cost as an Amazon Vine reviewer, but if I had to purchase it outright, I would not do so. It's just not that good to justify the retail price in my opinion. One thing that is excellent, however, is color rendition of the subject. This will now replace a lower quality/cost web came, and the difference is quite positive for this device.Instructions are limited.

Excellent
