Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife [30-000636]

I actually bought another one of these to keep one in my truck. This is why this is a great knife. One it is very sharp. I also love the rubber non-slip grip. It took a little practice to open with on hand, but it can be done. The close button took a little time to find, but it is there. It fits perfect in a pocket and with the rubber grip it won't damage a cell phone as would a hard grip would. I had this knife for a few months now and use it daily. I have opened and closed it hundreds of times and it works just like the day I bought. And it is still almost razor sharp just like the day I got it.

Very well thought. The knife comes covered in some sort of rubber like texture that protects the things in your pocket, such as your smartphone. The knife is pretty light so you barely remember that is there with you. He blade is sharp and though, although is small. In fact, the hole knife is small (which is cool). The design makes it look very cool, almost as if it wasn't a knife, so is pretty convenient if you don't want to look weird in front of people for carrying a knife with you at all times. It isn't "tactical-threatening" looking but is still stealth-like cool, though. It doesn't have a clip-on, which is ok with the concept of not scratching anything within your pocket... Recommended.

I wanted this knife to carry in my pocket because of clips on my other knives wreak havoc on my pockets/jeans/pants. I keep it in the same pocket as my cell phone and after 3 weeks of carrying it around, it has come in handy and not damaged my the screen on my phone. My primary reasons for buying this knife were, 1, its a Gerber, I've had/have Gerber knives before and they are outstanding, 2. The Rubber coating on the entire handle, with no exposed metal or bolts to ruin your gadgets. So far this knife has lived up to the hype, and is a great tool. It's the Goldilocks of knives, not to big, not to small and fits in my hand just right. I use this as my pocket knife, It's one of at least 2 or 3 I will carry on my when heading out the door. I use it to open difficult packaging, cutting cigars, removing staples, put holes in beer cans...etc. If you're thinking "Hey Sexy Reviewer, If you love this knife so much, how come you didn't give it a 5 star review?" Well, first the blade can be tricky to open sometimes, especially one handed and in higher temperatures the rubber coating can be almost sticky. Other than that its a great Gerber product.

I have had many Gerber knives so although I have just received this knife I'm sure the quality will hold up. This knife replaces a Gerber I carried in my pocket for about ten years, I can't believe I left it at a gas station after using it to open a can of gas cleaner!! Still miss that knife which is not still offered by Gerber. A couple of thoughts on this knife; wonderful balance and presentation with the blackened blade and the tech skin. And yes, with a little dexterity you can quickly open this knife with one hand, just feels, looks and sounds cool as you "click" the knife into position with one hand. The blade is nice, sharp out of the box, I just touched up with my black Arkansas Stone (you've got to get one of these!!) and water and the blade is now razor sharp. Gerbers are great knives at a great price!! Enjoy. One last thought; Sheath Rabbit is great, received the knife, 1st Class USPS in five business days from order. Nice.

I have had this now for 5 months with very little use and the locking mechanism stopped working. It is impossible to have the blade locked in an open position. Which is, of course a major safety drawback.

The only thing I like about this knife is the look This knife is low quality all around and is way overpriced. It should cost maybe $10. Crappy steel that's not even as good as 440c. The rubber handle wears easily. Mine started getting a hole over the lock button The action is very rough, and it wasn't too long before the pivot became loose and the lock started failing. It uses a not standard screw for the pivot so I don't even have a driver bit to adjust it. Not even worth my time trying to fix or do a warranty claim Buy a different knife from other quality makers like Kershaw, CRKT, Spyderco, etc. They will all be better value than this

This is a good knife for anything you need a blade for (boxes, letters, tags, etc.) The rubber coating makes it very easy to grip and the build quality is solid. I wish the blade were slightly longer, but it gets the job done for most tasks. If you're looking for an everyday "pocket" knife, get it. You'll be happy. it fits in your pocket with minimal interference. Would have also liked if it had a pocket clip, but not a big deal. Overall, I'll keep this one for everyday use, and probably get a bigger one for Camping/hiking, etc.

This knife is really great, when folded no metal is exposed and very light weight. Knife blade comes sharp, it opens kind of hard at first but gets easer over time. It's a great knife for the price.
