I’ve just started buying Dewalt tools. I normally have (Green) tools and a lot of there battery yard works units and two snowblowers. But need better tools. I’ve bought several Dewalt tool packs and several batteries. Very happy as this line (Yellow) is more of a professional tool. As I have started working on my car I might start buying (Red) tools as they seem to have more items oriented to automotive as the yellow is more home carpentry based.

I replaced an old oscillator tool with this one. It is fantastic. I’ve used this tool more in 3 months than the old tool over 10 years. It’s powerful, cuts fast and leaves a smooth finish. I’ve cut metal, aluminum, wood , dry wall and plastic, all with surprisingly good results. Flush cutting dowels is a breeze and leaves an unmarked surface. Recently, I didn’t have a router or chisel so I used it for mortising hinges and the door strike. I didn’t have the right size of drill bit with me but I had a small blade and cut a perfect square in the door frame for the bolt. For precision mortises, use masking tape on the blade for the depth cut, cut the perimeter, make multiple scoring cuts and the remove the material starting at the edge of the frame or the door. It’s so quick and easy to do a good job I may never rout a hinge mortise again.
