Great set of speakers!!
I had been in pursuit of a car audio system for the longest time but had budget restraints (not to mention install space restraints) - I greatly missed being able to crank up the music, immerse myself in it, and actually be able to feel the low frequencies. I finally took a look into home audio systems (to see if I could achieve a similar sound but for less) and found my way towards these RSG12 12" speakers. I knew they were capable of DJ use and small parties so I figured they'd be a perfect fit - that is to say I wanted a ton of head room to be able to use high volume and still keep great sound quality. I was very pleased to find these in my budget. I was also able to match these up with the recommended RPA5 1000w amp (with speak-on cables), and also the PPA20 pre-amplifier (with XLR cables). I've just recently received all components and have it set up in my home office. This set up, these speakers, have far exceeded my expectations! The higher frequencies are clear, powerful, and consistent, and the low frequency sound from this set up hits the mark. I'd strongly suggest this to those looking for a similar sound - and I'd have no doubt they'd be perfect for DJ use and or parties. Upon initial order and review of the amplifier's power outputs, I did notice right away that the amp is capable of supporting the 8-Ohm as well as the 4-Ohm speakers. The power output for the 4-Ohm were twice as much (yet still plenty of head room) and also gave me the option to bridge the amp if desired. I wanted this additional output so I actually returned and requested an exchange of the 8-Ohm speakers to the 4-Ohm (same price, same dimensions, etc.). Audio savings and Amazon made it very easy to complete this. I now have the 4-Ohm, RSG12.4 I believe and they are perfect.

A little more than 100 watts RMS. Sharp highs without equalization. Solid build!
They are nice and solid MDF. Mine have a 7.5dB sharp peak at 5280Hz that Peace takes care of in Windows. Otherwise they seem within spec down to 45Hz, +/-10dB. Actual RMS power is probably near 110 watts. They'd probably melt fast at 220 watts. I'm not sure they'd ever break in at 50 watts. Mine had zero port wind until I stepped up to a bigger amplifier. They're kind of compact, sound good and get loud. It's nice to have a subwoofer. The voltage is only 30v at 110 watts, so you could use the 1/4" connectors safely, which is easy to connect, but the Neutrik Speakon connectors are probably a better idea. The handles, plastic corner protectors and rubber feet are nice for carrying around. I know these are supposed to be PA speakers, but they sound clear and crisp to me. It has lots of piezos which I gather have less distortion than having just one driven hard. I'm very happy with them. The bass is reliable and loud down to 60Hz, so you actually get good stereo, allowing you to use a subwoofer as a subwoofer instead of having a mono speaker with stereo tweeters like these silly soundbars, assuming you are even close enough to hear any stereo at all.

Perfect for a 5.1 Surround System in my MAN-CAVE!
I needed speakers that could widely disperse MID's and High's evenly around my "MAN-CAVE" without the directivity issues common with Home speaker systems and I also wanted to have the headroom to be as loud as I wanted without distortion! Anyone that has a surround sound system will know that speaker placement is everything in determining whether you're going to get the jaw dropping experience of "WOW" or "That's okay" experience! The problem in my case was the many set's of various tower speakers I purchased in the past were to directional; meaning, I had to sit exactly dead center of the listening zone! If I moved to a location even so slightly to the left or the right the Mids and Highs were not as distinct or as loud! I needed speakers that could envelope me all around the room regardless of where I was sitting in the room. I needed speakers that could play at high volume levels without distortion and be clear in every detail! These are the Speakers for me! I purchased 2 pair of them; that's right, I ordered 4 Speakers and I am immensely impressed with the sound quality! Now whether I am playing music, movies, or games; everything comes to life with detailed clarity regardless of where I am at within my "MAN-CAVE"!!!! My girlfriend agrees that there is a huge difference and now complains it's too loud!!! (NO MATTER- She has her own place to go to if she doesn't like it and only comes over once a week anyway) The only complaint I have is these speakers didn't have banana plug connectors on the back. "So I got my drill, a #2 Phillips screwdriver, a soldering iron, some rosin core solder, a half inch drill bit, 12 inches of 12 Gage speaker wire for each speaker, professional wire strippers, professional butt splice crimper, and 8 butt splices. Then I drilled a hole through the center of the speaker terminal plates, ran the wiring through the holes, created a loop in the wiring to prevent the wiring from pulling out of the plate, soldered the wiring to the connectors internally, screwed the terminal plates back in, then I butt spliced the wiring together from my existing 12 GAGE wiring from my receiver."

Eviction Notice
As an old time Audiophile from the 60's I spend my weekend waking up my neighborhood by pushing my components to the limit!! I have a Marantz power amp with a pre-amp that delivers 400 watts RMS but with the sensitivity of 99db of the Rockvilles I don't need to turn it up that much to be able to get my landlord to hit me with an eviction notice. I exclusively use CDs so I can have 20hz to 20kHz, something non-existent in MP3s or Vinyl. The Speakers deliver an unprecedented performance in the high levels at 22khz but lacks a bit in the lows at 45hz, for that I have a massive sub-woofer that brings it down to 18hz! I've had these speakers for 7 years and although they can't compete with my Sansui SPX-9000, they are a great investment and a pleasant way to rock-the-boat! Highly recommended!

Acceptble, but...
Sound quality is adequate. Driving these with a 750W RMS amp so am able to get plenty of sound. However, one speaker had a defective SpeakOn connector - no matter what cable I tried (tried 6), none of them would latch which resulted in an intermittent connection unless I made sure the cable was under tension "just so" to keep it from twisting loose. At this point, I would really rather not send these back since I would not have any speakers for several weeks, so I decided to repair them. Ended up removing the panel that has the connectors attached to them to see about replacement of the SpeakOn jack and found some pretty poor workmanship in the soldering job: Burned and melted insulation and frayed wires. One of the wires has most of the strands broken (i.e. not connected) to the small PC board at the back of the Speakon jack primarily due to a poor job of stripping the insulation. After further inspection, the frayed wire broke off. This was alarming enough that I looked at the other speaker and the workmanship was much better. However, found the latch on that one barely works. CHEAP connectors! The good news is that they used standard connectors so I will fix the poor workmanship and replace the lousy connectors with a better quality Neutrik NL4MP square flanged connector which has the same dimensions and configuration. Based upon info from another reviewer, I will also be replacing the plastic tripod stand top hat with a "Speaker Mounting Top Hat for 1-3/8" Tripod Stand Steel" since the cheap plastic top hat is very prone to breaking. One last comment: the interior of the cabinet lacks acoustic insulation (fiberglass or open cell foam) which would enhance the lows since it acoustically makes the cabinet volume appear larger. This would be a low cost addition during manufacturing. Based upon this experience, I will probably not buy this brand of speaker again.
