Exactly as expected, but pricey, and not the best for cars
This is exactly as expected - a 15 pound tub of Calcium Chloride Ice Melt. It works great to melt ice and snow fast. Their claim is accurate, it does penetrate quicker than normal salt. They say 3x faster, and that's probably about right.I have two comments:First, at the local value mart I usually pay $15 for a 25 pound bag of Calcium Chloride, which is much more cost effective than this 15 pound tub (currently $35). However, the local value mart sells out fast, so I can imagine someone paying this much in a pinch. Also, the less expensive stuff comes in a bag (not a tub) and doesn't come with a scoop. But still, this is about $2.30 per pound, whereas I normally pay $0.60 per pound. My other comment is not really a complaint, more of a consideration. This melts the ice fast, but does NOT give your tires any traction because the crystals bore holes right through the ice and go to the ground. It's fun to watch, but this is not what I would suggest throwing in the trunk of your car for emergencies. This is great for driveways and sidewalks, but if you're concerned about sliding down a street or getting stuck on ice in your vehicle, I would rather have sand, regular salt crystals, or some other compound other than this.

Pricey!
The snow melt works well but oh boy, it is expensive! The bucket it comes in is probably 2 gallons, I was expecting a bit more than that for the price. In terms of efficacy, it does its job. It melts the snow and ice relatively quickly but I can't really tell the difference between this and other brands I've used in the past.NOTE FOR PUPPY PARENTS: I don't believe this is pet friendly!

Great to Have This Winter For Our Deck
We have a problem in the winter where our deck gets hit pretty hard with ice. Because it is on the north side, it does not melt at all with regular salt when the temperatures fall really low. This will help a lot.HOW THIS COMESThis comes with a bucket and a resealable top on it. IT is pretty small so it is easy to keep near a door or corner for easy access.DOES IT WORK?It is not below zero weather yet, so I can no comment on that, but I did test it on some ice and it worked pretty fast. It warms it up some and then melts it.THE BOTTOM LINEThis is going to be very useful for us on our deck. It works on ice, and it also does not depend on the sun to make it work. That is helpful for our north side deck. It also is good to know it will be easier on our surrounding grounds where we like to grow plants the rest of the year when it is warmer out.MY RATINGFIVE STARS so far. If there are any issues or problems as we use it this winter, I will update.

Packaging
The tab broke off immediately so getting the product open was a pain. Also, too expensive for 15 lbs of salt that didn't do anything its competitors products don't do.

Convenient size resealable buckets with scoop
I'd previously get a large bag of sodium chloride pellets each winter to spread regularly on my deck and stairs. It worked OK, works only down to 5F, and if don't transfer it to another container would easily get hard as a rock in big chunks. We get a lot of snow and ice, and often get down to single digits, but sub-zero base temperatures (non wind-chill temps) are not common here, This was a fairly cheap option, and part of the allure of why I used it. So now I've gotten this calcium chloride melt bucket, and we've had our first snow accumulation of the season along with 10-15F temps. Still not the heart of our coldest winter season here yet, and probably wont test this anywhere near its limit of -25F. The resealable bucket and scoop is a convenient easy to move and store size. The pellets work efficiently. Once you get 1 or two empty buckets and scoops, you really don't need to keep buying it this way, unless the premium is worth it to you to not have to carry and redistribute heavier sized bags.
