No, my mother in law put this in the dishwasher and ruined my mug.

You asked if they can put it in the microwave... Here is what the "care instructions" on the bottom of the box say: "Microwave Safe", "FDA approved" and "California Prop.65 compliant" - IT SAYS it is OK, but YMMV. We use a hot water tap. "Do NOT machine wash (i.e, don't put it in the dishwasher)." "Do NOT soak for long periods of time." "Do NOT use a scouring agent." "Do gently wash with warm water and soap.

Not a scratch, per se, but a little piece of the applique has flaked off after only 3 months and not excessively used (about 10 times). I have also been very careful with the mug. It might have been a defect in the application process.

Q: If the cup isn’t half full, do you only see half of the image change? 14oz is huge!
