Probably be fine for boys basketball or just general play shorts. I was checking them out for possible youth soccer team, but they are just way too long.

The fabric was very very thin. It was on the sheer side, unfortunately we had to return it. My son was not willing to wear it. Maybe as a light weight pair of shorts to sleep in it would have been better.

Very poor quality. Thin material. Hem stitching on bottom came undone after only a few washings. NOT recommended.
