From his early rise to fame to battles with his health, this revelatory memoir by legendary guitarist Peter Frampton celebrates the life of a rock icon. Do You Feel Like I Do? is the incredible story of Peter Frampton's positively resilient life and career told in his own words for the first time. His monu-mental album Frampton Comes Alive! spawned three top-twenty singles and sold eight million copies the year it was released (more than seventeen million to date), and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in January 2020. Frampton was on a path to stardom from an early age, first as the lead singer and guitarist of the Herd and then as cofounder—along with Steve Marriott—of one of the first supergroups, Humble Pie. Frampton was part of a tight-knit collective of British '60s musicians with close ties to the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who. This led to Frampton playing on George Harrison's solo debut, All Things Must Pass , as well as to Ringo Starr and Billy Preston appearing on Frampton's own solo debut. By age twenty-two, Frampton was touring incessantly and finding new sounds with the talk box, which would become his signature guitar effect. Frampton remembers his enduring friendship with David Bowie. Growing up as schoolmates, crossing paths throughout their careers, and playing together on the Glass Spider Tour, the two developed an unshakable bond. Frampton also shares fascinating stories of his collaborative work with Harry Nilsson, Stevie Wonder, B. B. King, and members of Pearl Jam. He reveals both the blessing and curse of Frampton Comes Alive! , opening up about becoming the cover boy he never wanted to be, his overcoming sub-stance abuse, and how he has continued to play and pour his heart into his music despite an inflammatory muscle disease and his retirement from the road. Peppered throughout his narrative is the story of his favorite guitar, the Phenix, which he thought he'd lost in a fiery plane crash in 1980. But in 2011, it mysteriously showed up again—saved from the wreckage. Frampton tells of that unlikely reunion here in full for the first time, and why the miraculous reappearance is emblematic of his life and career as a quintessential artist. Review: An Absolutely Inspiring, Honest, Heartfelt Book! - Believe me, I can tell that any bad reviews of this book means that the person hasn't actually read the book. They couldn't have. Here's my take on the book. (Btw, I've been a librarian for 26 years, I think I know a good book when I read it). What an inspiring story! I finished this book in one day because I couldn’t put it down. Before you assume that all Peter Frampton had to offer us is the 1976/77 version of himself think again. I was just a young teenager when he became famous. My best teen memories include Peter Frampton’s “Do you feel like I do”, “Show me the way” and “I’m In You, You’re in me.” But there’s so much more to his incredible life. You will be able to relate to him in so many ways as he struggled through rejection, stolen royalties by numerous bad managers, a car accident that nearly severed his arm and ended his life, multiple marriages and divorces, drug but mostly alcohol addiction, being absolute;y financial broke, the death of so many great rockers of day and the grief of losing parents, the list goes on. Being pigeon-holed as a teeny-bopper rocker was devastating to him. All he wanted was to play guitar, not even sing, just play. But he kept on getting up and putting one foot in front of the other and as a result has an absolutely amazing life when you read what he’s accomplished in the last decade. If you need inspiration with any part of your life (it doesn’t have to be music related) this is a perfect book. I owe it to him to write this review because his challenges and setbacks are so familiar to me as well (minus the rock star side). I learned so much about the music he was apart of that I knew nothing about previously. Being in elementary school when he was a member of Humble Pie I wasn’t familiar with his pre-Frampton Live days. Everyone who enjoys the memories and music of 70’s rock or the great Rock, Blues, Jazz greats of all eras will love this book. I learned about so many great musicians that I’m just now (at age 60) looking up on Youtube in order to listen to them. The greatest thing you come away with (at least I did) was what a genuinely great-hearted, beautiful soul Peter Frampton truly is. Although he often refers to his success when he was just starting out as “based on his cuteness” what I’m not sure he realizes is that it wasn’t just his external “cuteness” that a large portion of us females recognized and loved (as well as men). It was the heart and soul of Peter Frampton that made him beautiful and still makes him beautiful. He takes you through the highs and lows of his life and holy cow has he had them! As well as the more recent devastating prognosis of IBM ( Inclusion body myositis) which has sadly ended his touring days. He’s helped so many people in so many ways and united so many musicians. I came away learning that it doesn’t just take great musicians to form a great band, it actually takes really good-hearted, generous and loving musicians who also happen to be talented musicians. My favorite quote in the book refers to his life with the band ‘Humble Pie’. He says, “Wow, that’s me now. I can feel it; I’ve invented me, by listening to the world.” That quote hit me in a unique way. I don’t know if Peter Frampton will ever read this review but if he does I’d just like him to know how grateful I am that he wrote, “Do You Feel Like I Do? A Memoir”. I will be buying a copy for my musician brother for his birthday. Review: FRAMPTON FANS WILL BE IN BLISS LISTENING TO THIS MEMOIR WHICH PUTS THE MUSIC FRONT AND CENTER - Already on Chapter 7, but had to write this. If you are a Peter Frampton fan, and ESPECIALLY if you are a music aficionado, and a musician, this is PRICELESS entertainment. I've seen other reviews that complain of many names being mentioned, and complaining that this memoir dives too deeply into the technical aspects of the music, etc. I couldn't disagree more. This is a THRILLING listen (Frampton is narrating it!) and all of the albums, songs, musicians, solos, instruments, techniques you've ever wondered about as a Frampton fan are mentioned in detail and it is extremely enjoyable and informative to hear. I'm in absolute heaven. In Chapter 7 he pays special tribute to the massive talent of drummer John Siomos; it was so thrilling to hear this, because Siomos absolutely rocked. A lot of Frampton fans followed his career since the Herd or at least since Humble Pie. A lot of Frampton fans will NEVER forget his September1975 appearance on the Midnight Special, where he and his (most excellent) band played several songs. This was BEFORE the "Frampton Comes Alive" album was even released. And that album made him a super star. Who wouldn't want to hear ALL about the music, the recording, the touring, the playing? AN ABSOLUTE JOY!!! Peter, "I want to thank you!"

Great read but important time missing
Like many, I was first introduced to Peter Frampton's music with his Frampton Comes Alive album. I continue to listen to that album all the time. This book is a good read not just about Peter’s story and how he made such albums like Comes Alive, but also has great stories about the music industry itself. However, I can’t figure out why there is no mention of the second Comes Alive Album. It would have been fun to learn the story behind that album that has both “new” and the “old” stuff.

The perfect rock and roll memoir
Do You Feel Like I Do?: A Memoir is precisely the kind of rock and roll memoir I want to hear from musicians. Mr. Frampton’s book is devoid of rock and roll gossip and name-dropping. Instead, he gives readers a laundry list of interesting stories about his life that never get dull. He was a childhood friend of David Bowie. He played in rock clubs before he was old enough to enter them. Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones asked Frampton’s parents if they would let him play at clubs. He lost his favorite guitar in a fiery plane crash, only to find it decades later. These are just a few stories; including more would ruin the surprise. Mr. Frampton’s focus of this book is clearly on his music, particularly his love of playing guitars and writing songs. He is a true guitar aficionado who takes you through his life’s ups and downs with a perfect mix of humor, honesty, sadness, and eternal optimism, all written in a fun and lighthearted style. When he mentions the names of his peers and contemporaries, who are some of the greatest musicians and singers of all time, he is not bragging. He provides candid memories of meeting them, jamming with them, being asked to tour with them, and developing lifelong friendships. It is a book that I didn’t want to put down. Once finished, I understood that Mr. Frampton, as gifted a musician as he is, has been humble his entire life and was always in awe of his success. The final chapters of the book discuss his struggles with inclusion body myositis (IBM), an extremely rare progressive muscle disorder that threatens to weaken his fingers and, as a result, silence his guitar. Do You Feel Like I Do?: A Memoir is a personal tale of talent, loss, redemption, and the never-ending pursuit of musical perfection.

Love Frampton
Frampton Live album has always played an important part in our household. It has been the soundtrack to many date nights with my husband. So, I have always had a special place for Frampton which is why I read this book. This book proves what I have always said and that is Frampton never gets enough credit. The man is one of the greatest guitar players but doesn't make it on the list of greats. And this book proves that. It gives you that much insight to his life. Which is a huge pro. But a huge con for me is I felt he hopped around alot when he was telling his stories. Some of the stories didn't seem like they had a closer. Some, I wanted to hear more about but were really short instead.

Peter Frampton
It’s super! The first album I bought about 50 years ago was Humble Pie’ third album. Since then I have been listening Peter’s music intensively. Quite enjoyable to get this book!!

‘Feel like’ a great read
Upbeat writing and positivity throughout - and it’s not short on anecdotes either. Especially falling off the stage and ripping the pants. A confessional from a guy whose only downfall is being blessed with too much talent and good looks. While not a problem for the rest of us, he communicates and takes us on his wild journey. A great read.
