WC PadZ WH1000XM4 - Extra Thick Earpads for Sony WH1000XM4

I haven't had my Sony wh1000xm4s very long but after long periods of wearing the headphones I was finding that the ear cups were becoming slightly uncomfortable. I began to do some research on potentially upgrading the ear cups and the same company kept popping up as a good upgrade, wicked cushions. I found these on amazon and decided to buy a pair. Here are my own personal thoughts so far. Changing the pads around was super simple. The pads come with clear instructions and a link to a video which shows you step by step how to remove the old pads. Once fitted I've listened to my headphones for at least 7hrs straight and as far haven suffered no ear fatigue. The quality of the pads are extremely comfortable. Now to how they sound. The old pads that come with the sony WH-1000XM4 are slightly shallower than the wicked pads so your ears are closer to the headphone drivers. This is obviously going to make the original pair sound slightly louder due to closeness. The wicked cushions have a deeper depth which means your ears are not as close to the drivers hence this makes them ever so slightly less louder, but this isn't a bad thing. Now the noise cancelling does seem slightly less powerful not sure why this is but it's just a point that I have found. But the overall musical sound is still top notch. Now one thing I shall be monitoring over time is the condensation build up within the actual driver casing. Those who know about the condensation build up after long periods of use understand that this can impact the headphone sound quality over time and that you have to clean the water droplets from inside the driver housing. My thoughts are that due to the wicked cushions being deeper that this may stop this issue from arising. But this will only be proven in time. But my overall impressions of these pads are excellent and well worth the upgrade 👍🏻

Got these as I've had my xm4s for 4 years now so you can imagine the earpads are a bit worn in. Did some research and this brand came highly reviewed (on reddit) so thought I'd give them a go. So far, so great! Really easy to take the old pads off and replace them with these new ones. Sound quality doesn't appear to be impacted and they're super comfy! Only had them for a couple of days, but I'm loving them so far.Great pricing for the quality and they feel like the original ones. Will see how durable they are the more I wear them.

I bought these to replace my original XM4 earpads, which were heavily worn.Replacing the pads is very simple; just make sure you have a prying tool or butter knife to unlatch the old pads and clip the new ones in place.Compared to my worn-out pads, these are very comfortable. I can wear them for longer periods of time without ear pain. They do not appear to interfere with the sensor within the headphones to detect if they are removed. These also appear to have extra thickness compared to the stock pads. This is beneficial for comfort and longevity, but I believe it has some consequences.In terms of sound and ANC, despite what other reviews have said, it is important to know that these will not inherently improve quality. The thickness of the pads does actually add a nice bit of sound separation compared to the stock pads. But initially, I found the sound to be veiled and muddy. Additionally, I noticed ANC initially to be worse, with increased noise from higher frequency, wind noise and a sea-shell effect. However, after about five days, these qualities have improved as I adapted to the change of the sound signature, the pads have conformed more to the shape of my ear, and they have slightly compressed.Ultimately, if your XM4 earpads have lost their bounce and are flaking, these are a good replacement. Their price is in line (if not a tiny bit more expensive) with alternative brands. Just understand that you need to wear them in for a couple of days and that they'll not magically improve the sound or ANC of your headphones.

Nothing wrong with the pads that came with my XM4’s but they did make my ears a bit hot. So, I looked at all the reviews and decided to try these replacement ear pads.I’m very happy with them: more comfortable and my ears don’t get as hot. No reduction in sound quality, noise cancelling, or operation of sensors.I have fairly large, odd shaped, ears from years of rugby abuse but these ear pads gave improved what was already a reasonably confortable headphone set.A bit of wind noise when I have on sunglasses but no worse, and possibly better than the originals.I like them and glad I bought them.

I purchased these earpads hoping they'd be a comfort upgrade to the original Sony pads, as I find my ears touch the fabric centre "lining" of the pads (not uncomfortable, as such, but not ideal). In this regard I wasn't disappointed as they are quality, plush pads that look and feel to be made of exactly the same materials as the original Sony pads. I'd say that they're about 1/3rd thicker than the Sony pads (but not the 0.98" advertised) and as a consequence I definitely found them to be more comfortable. They were also fairly easy to fit once I'd watched the video. However, as noted in many reviews, these earpads really negatively affect the Active Noise Cancellation of the XM4s. I can only assume that the ANC is very much dependent on the volume within the ear cup and/or your ears being so close to the drivers, and the extra thickness of these pads increases that volume/distance to a point where it cannot operate nearly as effectively.It's a real shame cos these pads are excellent quality and more comfortable than the originals - buy them if that's your priority. However, if like me you value and marvel at the ANC on the XM4s then they're a no go, unfortunately.

I was disheartened when the stock pads on my Sony xm4 started to go flat. They flattened so much that my ears started to touch the headphone drivers. I contacted Sony who said they’d replace them under warranty but I’d have to send them off and it’s take up to 6week turn around.I googled replacement pads and found the wicked cushions website. They seemed decent enough and at only £20 I thought it was worth a try.OH MY GOSH ARE THEY AWESOME.They are thick and plush giving a good distance from my ears. But nice and soft to give a snug fit. They don’t affect the effectiveness of the noise cancelling. The headphones are perfect again.The design is awesome and a nice change from the stock black.They were really easy to fit when you follow the instruction video on YouTube. Takes 2mins at most.They have a bigger padding than the original Sony pads were when I first got them. Nice and comfortable.I can’t comment on how well they will fair over time but a week in, I’m mega impressed and very happy with my purchase. In fact I bought 3 pairs in case I need more in future as a backup (and I see Amazon stock of these going fast).Buy them if your default xm4 pads have gone flat. You won’t regret it.

TL;DR the noise cancelling is significantly worse, and the build quality is so bad that the right pad broke in 3 months.I bought these earpads because my the inner fabric of my original ones got greasy and built up dirt from direct contact with my ears. The one positive thing I can say for these replacements is that the firmness of the foam creates a larger space, preventing the issue which caused me to buy them. The rest is, unfortunately, negative.The firmness of the foam prevents the earpads from creating an effective seal, significantly reducing the quality of the noise cancellation. Wearing glasses, the firm foam creates higher pressure on the sides, which is uncomfortable. Ultimately, though, the build quality is what sealed them as a bad purchase. The structurally supporting plastic in the right pad snapped, seemingly of its own accord, which made it impossible to stay clipped in.Since my old earpads have had a chance to dry in the last few months, I wiped the foam outer rings gently with a warm moist cloth, and cleaned the inner fabric with a warm dilute solution of laundry detergent. They are like new, and swapping them back in, I realise just how bad these replacements were.Replace the originals if you must, but I will certainly be trying to maintain and care for them, instead. And don't go for these ones!

Fixed a Squealing issue in my XM4's. I had a high pitched noise coming out of my right speaker. Online forums said to replace the microphones, or headphone cups/cushions. So bought these.Easy to fit, 5 min job, corrected the issue with the headphones and they are like new now.Comfortable to wear and fixed the squealing.Very happy, would buy again.

It must be packed or manufactured way too old . The package was just simply send by slapping the adress on the package itself. Considering 1899 rs this was not meant to be received like that and no way its worth that much. Sellers discription include too much advertisement about the product quality. Yet it arrived with a torn stiches. After usage it's completely torn. (Pictures are provided). The quality, comfort of the product is actually not bad. Easy to install. Instructions are available in YT. And it is thick, comfy and identical to the original. Just feel like the product is just old. And this might be subjective and personal, I felt like noice cancellation ability was reduced a bit after these on.UPDATE!Wicked Cushions reached out to me through Amazon and offered a full refund under warranty, even months after my purchase and review. I was initially skeptical about their "refund if not satisfied" policy working in India, but they proved me wrong. Now I have my money back and decent earpads, despite the torn stitching. This experience shows how much they care about their customers. I vouch for them as a trustworthy, professional brand and highly recommend them.

Just got these to replacement my worn out pair and they seem to be decent quality, however they are not exact copies of the original. Yes they are a quite a bit thicker as the product title states and as shown in my pictures, which is good since I felt the orginal sat too closely and they would contact my ear, becoming hot and sore after prolonged periods.But I also noticed that the foam is nowhere near as soft as the original, and it's not a matter of breaking it in as the factory set were definitely just extremely soft from the start, almost too soft but it made sense as a seal for ANC. Now these do in fact sit higher and since they don't squish as easily, they actually allow the ear more room to breathe without rubbing on the edges because they aren't pushing inwards from the squished sides anymore.It's too soon for me to make a call on the effect on ANC but it does still seem to work as it did, though my headphones already have a pre-existing issue where one side isn't cancelling correctly and makes clicking noises (use to do the squeeling thing too but that seemed to stop at some point thankfully) so I may need to dissassemble further to clean some bits and hope for the best.Also worth mentioning that the inside mesh is noticably more dense than the original which may have some effect on sound, and the gasket for the sensor in the left pad seems to be a felt piece instead of the soft memory foam in the previous.I can't say much about the overall difference in sound, I'm no audiophile and the matter is highly subjective. But I will say I personally don't notice any obvious decline in quality, though it does seem a bit different.A note on removing the old pads, you don't quite need the butter knife as the tutorial suggests or even a prying tool. You can simply grab a section of the pad and pull inside and upwards gently (not too gently, it may need some persuasion) as it is held in by outwards facing snap hooks. So just pull on a side towards the centre enough to free it until it lifts slightly, then work your way around the edge doing the same for each point it's still held at.Pictures show everything mentioned. The mug was used to show softness through its weight on the different pads, both centred and to a side.
