Yes the speaker does have a front grille. It is a black cloth grille that covers the entire front of the cabinet except the gloss section just below the bottom woofer.

The price is for each tower. They are priced that way because they are packaged as singles. Price for the pair is currently $695.

Q: What is the difference between the r55ti and the r55tir?

The actual speaker model is the R55Ti. The R55Tir just means the speaker has the Red Burl Finish on it. The Black Ash version would be the R55Tib.

Q: Do you need a subwoofer with these speakers?

It depends on your room size and how much base you are looking for. Most of the time yes I would say you would want a sub, but it does depend on how much base you are looking for.
