What is the difference between this one and the cheaper WV201?

wv403 vs wv201:

The primary difference is that the 403 has a motorized (not suction powered) beater brush. The 201 does not. If pet fur and hair removal from cloth and carpeting is the top priority, the 403 is the better choice. The motorized brush explains the ~50 dollar difference at current prices.

The 403 has about half the tank capacity of the wv201. The exterior dimensions of the tanks are virtually identical but the filter for the 403 extends into the tank. The filter is not recessed as it is in the wv201. I suspect that the brush motor for the 403 occupies the space that the filter does in the 201. Given the physical dimensions of these vacs, compromises are to be expected. As long as you empty the 403 frequently, the tank size isn't something I've had a problem with. Note that the 403 and 201 filters are of a very different design and not interchangeable.

The 403 may have a bit more suction power but in practice, barely noticeable. The 403 has several power settings and the 201 has one. Doing an unscientific palm slap test, the highest setting in the 403 is comparable to the 201's single setting.

The 201 is less likely to become clogged. The filter location of the 403 is more likely to collect debris behind the filter which will require the end-user to occasionally pick debris out. More so than the 201.

Both are excellent hand vacs. I have both and use them all the time. At current prices (~99.00 for the 201, ~149.00 for the 403), I consider the 201 to be the better buy. Unless you need a motorized beater brush, the 201 is the more attractive option.

Is there any difference between the motorized pet power brush that comes with the wv403br and the self-cleaning motorized brush model #: 315fp400?

Was wv403br discontinued? i just purchased one here on amazon, and the went to look for accessories on the shark website and it wasn't showing up.

I think they just sell out as soon as they hit the shelves is what it is. I’ve seen them come in stock and be out fairly quickly a few times over the year since I bought mine.

Does this have hepa filtration?

im not sure if its a hepa filter. nothing says it is but this filter looks pretty good compared to other filters however after reading the directions u can rinse this filter with water only then allow 24 hrs. to dry. hope this helps... its a great little sweeper with great suction !
