Blink Video Doorbell | Two-way audio, HD video, long-lasting battery life, motion detection, chime app alerts, Works with Alexa (Black)

Got this little piece of kit as we wanted a video doorbell, as we have had what's lovingly called 'porch pirates' nick our parcels that were placed in plain view by the door. Just one niggle is that the camera does not snap completely onto the backplate, I thought this was cause I had put the backplate onto the angled bracket, but when I looked into reviews on forums I found this was a common complaint from a lot of users, but hey ho, it's connected firmly to the backplate, just with a slight gap at the bottom which doesn't affect the use.I purchased the angled corner bracket so the camera would point in the right direction, which seems to worked excellently. Setting up the system is easy, I originally chose wired setup and wired the doorbell two wires to the back of the unit, but...what is not really stated is that the system will NOT work with old 8v chimes and will not give power to the unit. So you have to have a 16 - 24v chime for it to draw power to make batteries last the fullest amount of time.Also it says it works without a sync module, which is true, but you cannot access live view on the system and it will not allow two way audio communication if you want to talk to whoever is at the door and politely tell the to do one and get lost or to leave packages outside etc.So I debated whether to splash out on the Sync Module 2 or not 🤔 so I did, and BOY what a difference!!As soon as I installed it (I have it in the optional plug cradle with a 64gb flash drive connected) it worked brilliantly! Now when you go to the blink app to view the camera, it gives you two icons on the view, one bottom left for live view and one bottom right to take a picture, both which work excellently, tap the live view and it gives you that, plus there is a button you can press to record what you are currently viewing!All in all an excellent doorbell camera for the money, but works even better with the sync module which in my view is a must!

It’s good value for money I guess, the problem is it’s very slow over 4g to respond and open the video to speak with the person who is at the door, most times they are walking away or have gone by the time it connects, even over Wi-Fi.Batteries lasted 3 months tops before I had to replace.Night vision is a waste really, it’s just not good enough to make things out.Day time vision is good, normally of an empty drive after the person has left.The video recording during the day is good, poor at night.It’s easy to install and good that you can connect without wires.Overall the camera needs some improvement and the delay definitely needs improvement but as I had blink camera system decided to give this a go, it’s ok just about for the price.The voice announcement via Alexa is very good when your home and the ability to make Blink cameras do the ring sound is very useful as I have Alexa and blink indoor all over the house.The reviews which state amazing quality, well they must be doing something different to me, the review which states quality as good as first gen mobile cameras is about right.I’m not blown away by the quality that’s for sure and the night vision you can’t make out who or what has triggered it.There is a delay when speaking and you sometimes end up speaking over each other, there is a bit of background hiss or noise as well.As I say it ok for the money.Update Nov 22Having had this for a few months now improvements have been made, the response is now a lot quicker over 4g, the person rings the bell, phone notifies me, press live view in the app and you’re connected very quickly, two way conversations work well and I can easily ask for my deliveries to be left where I need them.Definitely now worth the money.

I’ve been using the Blink Video Doorbell for a while now, and it’s been a great addition to my home setup. The HD video is clear during both day and night, making it easy to see who’s at the door. Motion detection is reliable and sends alerts quickly to my phone without too many false notifications.The two-way audio works well, and voices come through clearly on both ends. It’s really convenient to be able to speak to visitors or delivery drivers when I’m not home. Battery life has also been impressive — I haven’t had to worry about frequent battery changes, which was one of the main reasons I chose this doorbell.Setup was quick and straightforward through the Blink app, and it integrates smoothly with the rest of my Blink devices. Overall, it does exactly what I need without being overly complicated.If you’re looking for a simple, reliable video doorbell with good video quality and strong battery performance, this is a solid choice.

I was fooled by the bargain price in the sales. Let me tell you, it is worth less than the sale price. I’ve previously used iGeek and Eufy doorbell cameras and this is the worst one I’ve used.At nighttime, the LED light used for night vision interferes with the image - the light bounces off someone’s face so you can’t actually see who it is. Daytime quality not great unless in cloudless sky conditions.Next - I was hooked in by the 2 year battery life - this was a main draw for me and why I gave up on the other, better doorbells. Well, I’m writing this on December 12th. I’ve just seen in my orders that it was ordered on October 20th. It took about a week after ordering before I set it up it up. I’ve gone into the app and only just noticed it is on low battery, with warnings that it may not work well.So, even if I have some settings beyond the default (presumably default is for the 2 year life), the life has gone from 2 years to around 6 weeks. This is simply [email protected] whole heap of issues has arrived since moving to local storage ( via sun module 2) from the trial cloud subscription- namely, it just doesn’t save any clips. Why there isn’t an SD slot on the doorbell (and other cameras) so you can just access directly is beyond me- this is how other makes do it without the need to have this sync module.Next, going to live view is so slow- at least 2x slower than what I’ve been getting with other makes. -and the cameras are positioned in the same place with the same WiFi connection.So, in summary - even at sale prices this is not value for money as the picture quality won’t be something you can rely on if you really needed to get a face from the image, and the sync module is just unreliable, faffy and in my opinion unnecessary.I’m very disappointed and expected a lot more from Blink given the advertising and Amazon self promotion.

This is a cheap alternative to a market leading brand that begins with ’R’ and ends in ’G’. I had been happy with the other brand BUT the prospect of paying £50 a year for a subscription was simply a joke. This prompted me to shop about….Then I tried Blink, you get what you pay for and cheap is not cheerful.I bought the package that included a doorbell, sync 2 and a blink outdoor camera when they were on offer. I also purchased a memory stick for the sync module separately.Doorbell - the build is cheap, the camera settings are useless - the zones I have set to prevent my neighbours activating are a waste of time and they trigger it when they open their door leading to unnecessary activations.The device itself should be good but it isn’t. The doorbell does not fix well to the rear fixing bracket, it wiggles about and water can get behind - wetting the exposed electrical connections. I attach a video to show this. I have contacted Blink customer service who tried to tell me I had not connected the doorbell to the back plate correctly - I have.The camera on the doorbell is ok during the day but terrible from dusk onwards.Also, the box advertises battery or wired. What a joke, this is only battery operated, again, I could not reason with customer services who could not see any issue with the false advertising about this being wired.Whilst the footage is not always the best, especially after dark, the reaction times are ok and the playback has a slight delay. There is no chime and the connection with Echo devices is hit and miss so sometimes you get notified, sometimes you don’t.The adverts and countless positive reviews suggest this is a great product. It is seriously lacking and it will be heading back to Amazon as it is not fit for purpose.The outdoor camera will also be heading back, it is not good after dark and it was purchased as a set with the doorbell.Back to the drawing board, I have an alternative in mind that is wired and has onboard storage and great reviews online.

Absalute rubbish batteries dont last to long breaks down all the time when you try to get help from custom service its hopeless i was on the fone yesterday for 4 hours first to chat bot for over an hour then 2 assosiates for over 3 hours only texts cause you cant speak to sombody asked for a manager to call me arranged for 2pm today guess what no call so ill be buying from another company
