Do these roll easily? My son would have them on his desk at school, so they need to stay still.

They are pretty lightweight, so if the desk is at a slant it will roll but it also has a little bit of stickiness to it on the outside. It would be fine on a flat desk I just think a slanted desk it would roll

Do they have a chemical smell?

yes! I cannot remember the exact smell when we first got them, but I clearly remember my daughter telling me to smell the ball. It definitely had a strong platic-ish odor, but nothing you could smell unless you brought it right up to your nose.

It's kinda like that crayola modeling foam...same stuff but Probably my not crayola brand...i see somebody said it was filled with TPR rubber that is not true...not these stretch balls they are fill with a white modeling foam
