$40 and media the possibilities are endless. I have a lot of time behind blasting cabinets and working in a shop so I know my way around the blaster. I tried to buy one back in the day maybe 20 years ago, but it was a joke. so .. I had absolutely no expectation, but this hopper above the handle idea just works.! The thing will crank as much sand and air as you could supply. From woodworking crafts to car parts, to even firearm parts. it does it all. I’m totally impressed. I love it.! And if you’re using it just to get through a little part of your project that needs sandblasting it’s well worth it. Also you can’t beat the price. Again, I had the top loader hopper style.

I bought this to remove rust from my 1989 Land Rover Defender 90 bulkhead. The metal in the area is ply-sheet metal. In other words, it’s several sheets of 20 gauge sheet steel, spot welded together. My angle grinders tended to take off too much regardless of the grit of the wheel or finesse on my part. The package arrived within a couple days and actually comes with a 1/4” NPT connector I was able to use for once. After looking at the prices on Amazon for medium to use with it, I decided to look at my local hardware store. I was delighted to find they had fine grit “blasting sand” packaged in a 100 pound bag for......... $7.00!! The cheapest I’ve seen on Amazon is $15 while most are $30 for 8 pounds! Granted, the Amazon products are probably better at cutting but I figure what the $7 sand lacks in cutting power, will be made up in volume lol! I was right! I have a silent (sort of) running, 20galon Husky air compressor, with a line filter/dryer already and it worked like a champ. The sand will fall out of the nozzle if angled downward too much but I found a little downward angle keeps a consistent flow coming out without too much waste. As to the rust, it cut it without issue and with no damage to the good steel beneath. However, it does not cut through the thick, old paint easily, although that probably has to do with the sand I’m using more so and the gun itself. In conclusion, I’m happy with the purchase for this project. I know I’ll also be able to use it on other projects involving wood without damage. It’s perfect for the home DIY shop as you do not need a 30-60 gallon compressor for good performance.

I already have a portable sand-blaster, but it's set up for play sand, it's large, and the volumes of blasting material I use on small projects like these (shown is a reel to reel tape recorder capstan I refinished) are so small the pickup tube doesn't pull from the container. I also wanted more flexibility with a smaller hand-held self-contained unit. This worked out great so far on several of these from different machines. I use 150 grit glass blasting material to break up the polish at about 50-60psi, then #9 glass beads at about 50 psi to get the matte/satin finish I need without removing material from the shaft. So for an investment of about $100 in blaster and glass media, I can do at home what would cost hundreds in shipping, and charges from another craftsman probably using a nearly identical setup in his shop just for one shaft. I've done three. Pluses: small, lightweight, small volumes, easily maneuvered with a lightweight 1/4" compressor hose attached, does the job I needed it to do. Not-so pluses: 1 - grip/trigger is awkward to use, especially while wearing heavy protective gloves 2 - nozzle bore diameter could be smaller for narrower stream - I adapted one of the two included nozzles by tapping a piece of steel tubing into it (took some milling and red loctite to hold in place) to get it where it works best for me and other projects. 3 - recommend rectoseal-type sealant which dries out and holds the part in place, not teflon tape for keeping 1/4" NPT fitting on bottom of grip to keep it in place/leak-free. And keep in mind, NPT fittings are tapered, this would be VERY easy to overtorque and split the inlet/grip. I do recommend it for the home hobbyist/craftsman/gunsmith even.

This thing is way better than expected. I ran play sand like you shouldn’t and ran it off a small pancake compressor. Also like you shouldn’t. I sifted the sand with a window screen and it worked great. Had to stop a few times here and there for the compressor to build back up but it works great. Way better than the cabinet blaster I use at work. This seems to be more consistent with the delivery.

I bought this sandblaster to use to clean up a rusty wrought iron bench. When I tried it with my 4 SCFM@100PSI compressor operating it at 100 PSI the results were OK but for the job I was attempting it used a lot of abrasive (coal slag) but didn't get the clean metal I hoped for. After attempting to blast off old paint, and rust, I reverted back to chemical paint remover and my electric grinder with a wire brush to remove the paint and most of the rust. From there I'm going to go back with this blasting gun and clean as close to bare metal as I can. I'll keep this sandblast gun around for small jobs, but don't expect to get much more use out of it than that.

This blaster is fantastic. It was super easy to use and does one heck of a job with 120 grit aluminum oxide powered by 140 psi out of my 15 gallon Dewalt compressor. Even though I was doing 5 small jobs, I had to refill the hopper three times. I was not filling the hopper full, about 2 cups of media each fill, and soon realized I should have gotten the siphon blaster. That said, I could not be more pleased with the job it did. I must say, out of the box I was not impressed, but after using I am wondering what took me so long to get one. It ate rust and epoxy based paint with ease, leaving a beautiful matte finish on stainless steel and a surface ready to paint on regular steel. If you’re one the fence about getting one, do it, but strongly consider the unit with the siphon.

I purchased this a year ago and unfortunately just opened it now. This is a useless sand blaster. Would not remove even one layer of paint. Garbage.

Great little unit for the price. Used it to clean a few small parts on a car restoration that were proving difficult to sand by hand before paint. Have used it on a verity of different parts now mostly because it’s way more convenient and quicker to use this rather then trying to sand them by hand. I’m sure it would work fine on a larger scale job but would obviously take a long time. It’s perfect for the smaller jobs. Update! I just rd painted the front doors to my house that have some complicated trim pieces all over it. Sanding the flat surfaces by hand is obviously easy but I did not want to spend hours getting into the nooks and crannies sanding by hand. Used this to do it instead. A few hours job turned into the whole door being ready in about 30 minutes.

Merits: This is portable blaster. Serves the purpose to blast a small or spot touch ups. Demerits: very expensive and no details provided to procure the consumables like ceramic nozzles etc.

Works very well, I use kiln dried sand…no problem whatsoever, also used 0.5 professional sand and no wear after 5 hours of continuous use….it’s very good design so far! Will update after a few months

I took a chance and tried sandblasting for the first time with an air compressor that delivers 4.5 CFM @ 90 PSI. I thought it would give mediocre results, but it exceeded my most optimistic expectations. I used 120 grit fine aluminum oxide. It works quite well! I would not go north of a project bigger than one square foot, or bigger than a single car rim or brake drum, as this would be way too slow and tedious. But if you have just a couple of inches of area to rust off/sandblast, it works great. Perfect for a car with just a couple of rust spots to remove.
