Decent re-imagining
Out of all the characters to appear in the ‘War for Cybertron’ toy range, Slammer is probably the one that has gone through the most change, mentally if not physically. Originally, he/it was a nonautonomous minion that was part of Metroplex. He wasn’t even really a Transformers as such. He possessed no robot mode and the only transformation he underwent was the tank being put on its end to serve as some type of tower for Metroplex’s city form. He has undergone a radical re-imagining for the ‘Kingdom’ toy line. Now reportedly self-aware he has had a robot mode bestowed upon him. It is a fairly decent robot that still maintains the essence of the original Metroplex accessory in that it has a sort of drone, foot soldier appearance to it. His hands/fists are only moulded from the end of his arms and aren’t distinct with no articulation. However, he looks impressive with his weapons attached. The tank barrel can be fitted to form an arm cannon and his tank treads can be combined into a pretty offensive looking, arm mounted, chainsaw (this can also be split and stored upon his back). Slammer is now a ‘parts-former’. Strangely, he has been released under the ‘Kingdom’ line which had Fossilizers as its parts-former contingent. Slammer is more like a Weaponizer from ‘Siege’. He is, possibly, better than any of the ‘Siege’ Weaponizers. There are some good variations that all legitimating look like weapons of some sort, unlike some from ‘Siege’. The feet/leg extensions are also surprisingly stable and work well attached to figures without toppling them over. Now that Slammer is a Deluxe Class figure, he is considerably larger than the small, basic plastic model that came with Metroplex. The Tank mode is still in roughly the same proportions and is really well detailed (unlike the original). It is also quite compact and appears solid. However, it is less impressive when it is not static. As a result of being a ‘parts-former’ it isn’t actually as solid as it appears. There is some give in the back sections firmly locking together and the manoeuvrability of the gun turret is severely compromised. It can’t move left or right at all and any attempt to angle it upwards will result in it coming apart. The small piece at the front that is meant to hold things together is quite loose and easily pops off. The two hatches of the turret need a peg or two joining them. Of course, the tank treads are just for show and don’t actually move. Thus, three small wheels have been included on the underside. However, these are completely ineffective. Although not listed in the instructions. ‘Kingdom’ Slammer is still supposed to have a tower mode. This looks even less complex than the like of those belonging to Ironworks/Greasepit and, in keeping with the original, merely seems to involve propping up on end, flipping out the underside and attaching the gun barrel.

slammer is great
a great update to a g1 character that previously was a solid moulded tank with no bot mode.

Yes, you can put the tank gun on his back
In fact you can pull off a number of different looks and weapon configurations due to Slammer being modular, such as putting the tank treads on his forearm for a handy chainsaw.

The minute Siege revealed Sixgun, Cog, and Brunt, we knew Slammer was destined to show up. I mean after all, how could they not? But then Siege came and went, and poor Slammer was left out in the cold, like a dog forgotten outside for ten minutes when you go back in to pee when it's -20 outside. Then came Earth Rise, and the Weaponizers became the Modulators, and we all quietly gave up hope of Slammer. People began making customs, 3D printing add on kits, designing their own... But then! Then, the sun began to rise! Hope was rekindled in the hearts of the Men of Gondor, as Kingdom Warpath rode forth! Here! Here was a tank! A simple repaint would suffice! It would hold our hands as night fell once more, and comfort us. Sku's leaked from Walmart and indeed, we were getting a Slammer. Then the promo shots dropped. This... this was no mere repaint. THIS was a brand new mold, in the vein of his earlier brethren. This was what our hearts had cried out for! ... yes. Good figure. Goes well with Thrilling 30 Metroplex or by himself.
