This trap is 100%! We bought a steel/silver colored one on here, and the first night a raccoon destroyed it from the inside and got away. This trap is the real deal, and it is all in the materials, not necessarily the design. In about 6 months, we have caught 18 raccoons, and 13 skunks! As well, we caught 3 oppossums, but let them go. Needless to say, the skunks and raccoons are no more. We still have this one trap, all in same condition we bought it. And the raccoons tried like hell to destroy it, but could do a thing. Looking for a trap, BUY THIS ONE! I used mostly canned salmon, also sardines and mackeral, when i ran out of salmon. One time we caught 2 raccoons at once lol. Good luck!

Catch reference: Using this on a stray cat that has been spraying my patio furniture. Perfect size for a cat. PRO: This product works- a cat has enough weight to trigger the pressure plate. Sturdy made and worth the money- $45 vs my local garden/hunt shop that sells for $90. CON: Major design flaw- the back/release door opens INWARD!! Not well thought out for a couple reasons. First- you do not want to put your hand IN the cage while you're trying to release the animal, and second- since the back door opens inward, it is difficult to put bait into the back of the cage. I have to thread it in through the front by either shoving my whole arm into the front or taking a long stick/tongs and pushing the food back. Same goes for food removal. When our "visitor" didn't show up, I had to have my husband shove his arm in the front with tongs to grab the leftover bait, so we wouldn't have to worry about other pests (ants), or other animals getting enticed enough to get caught. Bottom line: The only reason I rated this 4 instead of 3 is because of the price point. It is sturdy, and it works. It does have the minor inconvenience of design, but it also costs half of what my local garden and hunt supply sells them for.

This cage has been a blessing. My family moved to a new place that has roosters crowing at 3am. After the first night or constant crowing (right outside our bedroom window), I was in the hunt to catch these roosters in a humane way. My local feral chicken program was going to cost $200+ per week to rent a cage. So that was a no-go. And the. The landscaping guy that services our area said he would pick up the chickens for free. Free food. So I pulled the trigger on getting this cage and was quite disappointed for the first 2 weeks. No chickens! I almost wanted to return it and my wife said to be patient. And after a “yes darling”, on Christmas Eve last year, bam. That solid. Of the cage closing was the greatest Christmas present ever. Since then, we’ve caught over 30 feral chickens. The peddle can be triggered pretty easily. So I tend to catch some chicks, but we let those go since we’re really after the big guys which are for eating and mitigating the noise. It also triggers large common birds, so that’s a bit of a hassle to have to let go, but that’s all because the cage works well. Also having doors on both sides is helpful to get the chicken acquainted with the cage, walking in and out to get food.

Pretty dissatisfied with this trap. I am working on TNRing feral cats. I have observed several kittens/ smaller cats stand directly on the trigger plate without it releasing. I set the bar to the very edge of the latch to make it more sensitive, which worked. The major issue is security. I had a trapped cat break out of the trap back door twice. Zip tying it seemed like a reasonable solution. I went to pick up my feral cat and trap from the vet's office yesterday, only to find my feral cat in one of their traps, with a note attached to my trap. The vet said this trap is dangerous as the feral was able to break out of the front door three times, getting loose in the clinic. They said I am no longer allowed to use this trap at their facility because it lacks security. This is a major safety concern for the animal and staff. I had another feral cat escape the trap's front door previously, but thought it was a fluke. Frustrated with the design, durability, and ineffectiveness of the trap.

This trap is way worth its price. I had a stubborn and very smart feral cat trapped in my garage for a few months that would not go into the standard trap for the life of him! Animal control suggested I get him use to my dogs kennel to eat from and trap him that way. I had been searching for a larger trap that would resemble my dogs kennel at a good price and I found this one. When I received the trap the locking mechanism was not working so I reached out directly to the manufacturer (not Amazon) and the owner sent me out a new working one the same day! I finally trapped the cat and got him TNR through humane society and now he’s free and back in the community ❤️ Best money I’ve spent in a while!

This trap looks pretty well built. But I have a couple complaints... 1st, as others have said, the back door folds inwards instead of outwards, so it is pretty hard to get the food bowl behind the sensor plate because your arm won't be able to reach all the way through the trap. So that was a pain. Then I got it all set up and watched the cat I was trying to trap go inside it and not trip the plate. I went out and tested it and the plate even pushed all the way down wasn't enough to make the door close. I don't know if it was because of the cold or what. The latch that hooks onto the door wasn't moving. I had to spray some wd40 on it and not engage the latch all the way on the door so it is just barely on there.. And put a rock on the plate.. Might need to modify where the latch hooks onto the door.. Also had to make sure the rod is pushed all the way under the plate or else the rod just kind of flexes when the plate is pressed, which also was preventing the door from closing... Just some trial and error... I'm just upset that it didn't work like it should. Someone was also mentioning that since the back door folds inwards instead of out, that you are unable to transfer the trapped animal to another trap/carrier easily. I figure it folds inwards so that the whole trap can fold up for storage, but would of been nice to also allow you to fold the door outwards... Still seems better built than the other traps and with less chance of the animal getting out.. Fingers crossed it works this time 🤞

Don’t listen to all these people talking about how this trap doesn’t catch cats, I can guarantee you it’s either because they do not know how to use it or second reason being they got the wrong size for the wrong species most being the first reason. I got the 32 inch trap and it works wonders even for the smart cat’s that are difficult to catch! I’ve already caught 6-7 stray cats that were overrunning my neighbor hood with half of them being the hard to catch type and I effortlessly caught them with the proper baiting with a trail from the entrance and open can tuna at the back. I’ve had it for 4-5 months now and funny enough it got a huge dent at the entrance yesterday I thought it was a goner but after fixing dents and playing with the latch mechanism it looks and works like brand new! An amazing trap for catching cats and chickens too just make sure to set it up right and use the right bait. Highly recommend cheers

Just I put the tuna inside simply the cat came and fell in the trap
