Great Fryer. Long Lasting Easy to use.
I had a DeLonghi Fryer for over 20 years that just recently gave up on me. Decided to go back with another one, which has much newer technology that the first one. The old one was a temperature dial model, no real electronic controls. The new one has digital Temp control with timer. This is great for frying different types of foods that require different temp ranges and time to cook ranges. It holds one gallon and best of all has a filtered drain that you can completely drain the oil for later use, and simply wipe out any residual. A great fryer.

Perfect home deep fryer!
This is an amazing machine. Up until now I’ve been frying in a Dutch oven or iron skillet. No longer. The temperature control is amazing and there is enough oil to maintain it’s heat as you cook multiple batches. It heats up quickly and there is little to no spattering. The outside of the unit stays cool enough that I don’t worry about it affecting our countertop. The cover helps control where the steam is released but I eventually just stopped using it while cooking. We made the best potato chips we’ve ever had as well as chicken nuggets, frozen cheese curds, and fried chicken. The amount of oil left on the food is very minimal if you let it drain and the food absorbs very little during cooking. The built in filter does a great job when draining the oil and I will be able to recycle the oil several times. Some reviews stated the power cord would not stay secure but I found that if you connect it correctly and isolate the cord a little it is not a problem. It cleans up easily and I’ve done it by hand and in the dishwasher. I’ve been cooking for 30 years and wish I’d have invested in one of these years ago. I will never fry in anything else.

The basket easy to drain, filter to drain oil keeps the oil clean. You can reuse oil after cleaning.
Liked everything about it, once I learned all the procedures. The only issue are I had to get use to the controls and procedures, (theres No On or Off) only a start or call it a Enter program button. You plug it in, its On, unplug its Off. Easy to totally clean, however the safeties are too sensitive. 1. Safery plug is polarized thats good!!! 2. Magnetic plug in to unit only goes one way, thats good!!! 3. Tank sensor must have minimum amount of oil or it will not turn on, which is good up to a point? I've had a hard time restating the unit after total recleaning. Even after pluging in, puting oil in, I had to keep pressing the tiny recessed Reset button. It gets scary, because it's full of new oil. I recommend just fill enough oil covering the heat coil so the sensor is well covered and unit starts the fill the rest of the way. Once you learn the controls and remember, too set the desired temperature, the timer must be turned on by (pressing the center start/enter button) to start the preheating of the oil. When the preheat temperature is reached (I set mine at 320 deg), you can reset the timer to the desired cooking time. Press the start/enter center button again. Its worth the cost after you learn how the controls work. Remember this is more of a professional frier. I use it just about every week.

Great Quality Fryer
I have used deep fryers since I was a kid at home. In my adult years I have owned 2 different fryers similar to this one. However, this one is definitely the best one I have had. I do like the fact that there is a drain with a screen so that oil can be drained and the fryer cleaned after use. This keep the fryer cleaner and the oil fresh. The lid is quality made, nice weight and design is perfect. I like it has the digital display to see exactly what temperature its at. The basket holds a lot of food and cooks everything evenly. Since I got this fryer, I have used it at least 2-3 nights a week. Glad I made this purchase.

The most discusting appliance that I have ever purchesed, from Amazon or otherwise.
I will admit that I was drawn by the sleek appearance and the promise of superior performance and ease of clean up. I was originally hesitant due to a reviewer's comments about the difficulty of even starting the fryer. It seemed that you needed to read an extensive operational handbook to get it going. That reviewer followed by stating that he/she would just keep pushing buttons till something worked. I must say that I do the same. It is really ridiculous that I need to figure out how to set the cook time before I can even begin to figure out how to set the temperature. I was however willing to forgo these inconveniences as a trade off for the superior performance it had promised. I will give it performance and heat times as a plus but that is about all I will do. Clean up? What a disaster that was. I have had many deep fryers during my lifetime and have always gauged how often I used it as well as to the types of frying I did when it came time to drain and replace the oil. According to the manufacturer this was going to be a piece of cake. Wrong! The drain spout is situated such that you need to move the fryer to the very edge of a level surface, no lip such as a sink edge or a countertop beveled edge. As such, when I attempted to locate a small container under the spout as there is not room for anything large, I found myself constantly trying to balance the unit as it drained without getting oil all over the floor. I did succeed mostly in that respect but not completely. Many paper towels in use during this drain process. To complicate this process further, the so called "cool zone" only added to the aggravation of cleaning this unit. All the solids that collected on the bottom gravitated to the screen sieve that is attached to the very short discharge spigot. So here's what I ended up with. I had one hand holding the container into which I was attempting to empty into, my arm attempting to balance the unit of the edge of my countertop, which has a beveled lip that is not conducive to the fryer's short discharge drop distance, and the other hand immersed into the oil in the fryer, trying to dislodge the food particles that constantly kept piling up against and into the residue screen inside the fryer basin. If, and when I do get this entire mess cleaned up, something I anticipated to be a half hour job, I will likely relicate this appliance to the graveyard of appliances which is currently in my garage but soon to be in the landfill. End of review? I would not advise buying this product.

Mostly Easy to Clean
Works great. Has visible temperature, oil is deep for larger items. Has some kind of timer button, read the directions about that, I didn't and the fryer shut off on me, I guess that a good safety feature so it's not left on, not this is good or bad, just saying read direction because I didn't. You can set the disired temperature then the digital read out tells you the current temp of the oil so you can watch the heat rise or watch for the green light that comes on when you've reached your desired temp. I dislike the magnetic power cord, it falls out if I think about touching the cord, not sure why it has that feature. Used oil drains out easily. Cleaning is fine, should me called "Mostly easy to clean" as most items fit in the diswasher, except for the heating element as it is connected to the electronics, not use why that can't the heating element can't just unplug and go into the dishwasher as well. My little first time fryer buyer complaints, overall great product.

Upgrade Review -DeLonghi Livenza
1 star - Leaked first use. The reviews are filled with this product leaking oil, yet this company knowingly keeps selling this junk. DeLonghi Livenza has no integrity. I did what DeLonghi Livenza should have done and fixed it. I will keep the unit. Upgrade to 3 star: After fixing the leak, I began using the fryer and it works great. Actually reaches the Temp 374, many fryers fall short of this. Used Aprox, 6 times. Timer is handy & accurate temps are a big plus. Had the unit not leaked this would have been a 5 star review. How to fix - Pruchase a tube a of Rutland 500 Deg Silicone Rubber (black in color). Get the Alum foil and an new pencil that has yet to be sharpened. Take sheets of tine and wrap around end of pencil down about in inch down forming a tube. Now remove the screen fron the fryer. From the back side shove that till it meets the screen. Then gently shoving around the sides of the alum foil once that ridge is form jam it down firmly into the screen, Repeat this process till your about a 1/4" from from the opening. Making sure the alum foil is tighly packed in there. Fill the remaining space with Rutlland S.R. Then take Rutland and put a tab of the product and a little more then a 1/4". Take two tooth pick and rub the S.R in a circle around the opening, leaving some clean space between the S.R and the opening. Now shove the screen back in. Turn unit over with valve opened. Put the end the S,R in the hole fill with s.r to the top. Let sit for 5 minutes, can back and fill in again jamming down with finger. Now close the valve. A little more S.R at the and push down with finger. Now let sit for a hour or so, Flip it back over and remove the plastic valve closer. Preheat oven to 175 Deg and bake for 20 hours - 12 hours probably would suffice. When finished if properly done the end of the drain valve should have S,R rubber bulge from expansion which indicates success. The tank will never leak again. Bought a drain tube with a shut off valve and manually drain the fryer. It faster then the original design. You now have a really good fryer.

Makes terrific deep fried food
Components separate with ease and the materials are super easy to clean. The appliance is a terrific size easily accommodating whatever is needed for a family meal. The appliance reaches the desired temperature quickly and maintains that temperature for the duration of the cook. Ideal for Scotch Eggs, fish & chips, southern fried chicken etc. The oil is easy to drain and the small filter removes larger debris. It’s the best fryer I’ve had and I’ve had a few over the years

Are the buttons wobbly?
1- All buttons were wobbly within their sockets, is that how it is designed or did I get a faulty product? I posed the question to Delonghi customer service but never heard back from them. Any comments on buttons? 2- Was unable to alternate between seeing temperature and timer count downs on the control panel 3- Steam vent is located close to the lid handle and the control panel, therefore accessing either can burn your hand. 4- This is my second Delonghi deep fryer. First one with moderate use lasted for 14 years. Before buying the D44528DZ currently under review, I tried T Fal's top of the line deep fryer and found its frying soggy and below par, so returned T Fal and bought this one. 5- Quality of the fried food is very good and beyond compare with other household deep fryers available in the market. 5- Dont know how durable and reliable it will be? 6- Updating my review on March 25, 2018. Wobbly buttons are normal. Deep fryer since purchase is working 10/10 My thorough research led me to purchasing this product and using it confirmed that it is the best deep fryer on the market with 1800Watts

Not worth the money, failed after a couple uses
I bought this item because I recognized the brand and it was one of the more expensive fryers so, I assumed it would be better quality than the others. I was wrong, we used it a total of three times before the controls failed completely. It turns on but I cant control the time or temperature and the heating element won't come on. Because it's past the 30 days since I bought it, Amazon won't help me and I now have to chase down the manufacturer, pack it up and send it to them and hope they refund my money. In future, I'll avoid this brand and buy locally so that I can at least go back to the store to get help should the product fail. One other thing to note, the power cable is attached magnetically (of safety I assume) but, it's constantly disconnecting due to the weak magnet and heeds to be wiggled all the time to restart it.

Great for tempura.
I like to make tempura, and my previous machine, although it produced fine results, didn’t have the capacity to cook much at once. This machine is at least 50% greater capacity in roughly the same overall size. It also seems to maintain a more stable temperature. It’s a bit of a fuss to empty properly, although the drain tap is useful. My previous machine had an automatic function that filtered and drained the oil when cool into an integrated reservoir. That was an excellent feature, but was the main reason it had a small capacity. So this machine is a bit fussier to empty and clean, but the results make that worthwhile. Especially since I use the fryer at most once every two or more weeks.
