WixGear Dashboard Mount, Universal Magnetic Phone Holder for Car, Windshield Mount and Dashboard Mount Holder for Cell Phones and Tablets with Long Adjustable Arm – (New Rectangle Head)

I purchased this to replace an iOttie Easy One Touch 2 mount that I purchased back in 2015. While that mount seemed a bit cheap at first, it had a reliable suction cup and lasted more than 3 years. When it finally failed, I actually considered getting a newer version of the same brand. I'm glad I didn't! I'm on the go a lot, making frequent stops throughout the day. The old style mounts that clamp your phone in place eventually wear down, relying on a variety of moving parts. The fact that everything's plastic these days doesn't help. Another inconvenience is the fact that it takes an extra moment or two to unmount and remount. Sometimes you also have to adjust the position so that charging cables can connect, or to prevent side buttons from being squeezed to tight (a major nuisance when you're volume shoots to zero out of nowhere). A while back, I was in a friend's car that had a magnetic mount that clipped to a vent. It often moved out of the place, but it never dropped the phone and I knew I needed a similar solution. After a lot of research, I settled on this WizGear mount. It had a similar suction mount as the iOttie I owned before, and best of all, it was even cheaper than I expected! After using it for a couple months, here's my pros and cons: Pros: - Well-made and durable - Strong magnetic grip - Phone does not slide, tilt, or move out of position - Easy to mount and unmount with one hand - No arms or rests that get in the way of side buttons and the charging cable - Highly affordable Cons: - The base is all plastic (decent quality plastic though) - Takes a little fiddling to get the swivel head to the right tension - No extension arm (doesn't project phone forward as much as the previous mount I owned) As you can see, the pros heavily outweigh any complaints I had. I was also able to get the tension just right after 3 adjustment attempts, so that wasn't really terrible either. The magnet is the real stand out here. It has such a good grip, the phone never moves out of position, even over pot holes and speed bumps. I can easily attach the charging cable and access side buttons. Best of all, when you're in a hurry, you can just grab the phone and go. Returning to the car with an armful of something you're carrying? No problem. You can reach ahead with one hand to mount your phone! Now the wife wants one, so I'll probably be ordering another soon! I'm sold on WizGear. Buy from this brand with confidence!

Item is sturdy and reliable

I live in a state where you can a windshield mounted device as long as it doesn't interfere with the driver's vision. So I have mine stuck there so I can use my phone as a GPS. It is easy to adjust this mount and it holds the phone quite well, occasionally the phone jostles off the mount if I haven't attached it squarely in the center of the magnet. But normally it stays put and is easy to grab when I leave the car, too. I bought this because I was issued a ticket for using my cellphone while driving, even though it was only for the map and I was stopped at a light. Better safe than sorry. UPDATE: My mount broke, the plastic flange holding the suction cup to the mount broke. I wrote the WizGear company and they sent me a brand new mount. I provided them photos and my order details. I think the plastic piece broke because my husband was constantly adjusting the suction cup. He is one of those mechanical engineer types that constantly fiddles and adjusts things, I don't know why. So if you move the mount, I would take care removing the suction cup it has strong suction, which is good, but bad if you just yank the mount off the window. Appreciate the great customer service!

My story: I finally got this to work...with a little extra effort. First, the magnetic hold is awesome. I put the supplied metal plate on the back of my 8" Samsung tablet, which btw way weights close to a pound (15.94 oz). And the sucker snapped in solid. Then I tested the suction cup with tablet mounted, by attaching it to a window in my house. It held for 24 hrs, no problem. But I was worried about the dash of my car. It has a pebbly texture and a slight curve. So I stuck it on, and it held for a few hours. I left it overnight, and it popped off. So I did some looking and found a <brand deleted> mounting plate just for this purpose (see photo) and put that on. It pulled loose after 12 hrs (I had let it "set" for 48 hours). Well I had a nice round mounting pad, so I concentrated on trying to fix it better to the dash. Research led me to the<brand deleted> "Plastic Bonder", which had impressive reviews It mixes like any two-part epoxy. Applied it to the back of the <brand deleted> pad, after I removed the adhesive coated wafer. I let it cure for 24 hrs and it seemed rock solid. Oh btw, I cleaned the vinyl with denatured alcohol at the very start of this project. So at this point its held on for about 36 hours with no problem. I might mention that there's another <brand deleted> product that might work even better called<brand deleted> Plastic Weld. It specifically mentions that it bonds to vinyl (which the Bonder didn't say). And the holding strength is higher. But the Bonder worked fine. So far so good. I wanted to stabilize this medium sized tablet so I could have a handy GPS screen at my finger tips. It also works great for fast forwarding through sections of podcasts. Love this. I have a very heavy phone. It's an s23 ultra and then I have several credit cards inside of the case for it and so it is quite a bit of weight that that magnet is able to hold up with no problem. I moved it between cars several times and never had any issues with it falling down, even in the hot Texas heat it stuck to the windshield so well until the very end. I did purchase another brand after it broke to see if there was something out there that I liked better, but wound up returning it to purchase this again. I did wind up losing the Nut that is on the side for the angle adjustment a while back and the replacement that I found at the hardware store just didn't work as well So be aware of that it can loosen over time. Overall I have absolutely no complaints. I think I paid $12 for the first one and I got my money's worth and then some. This is absolutely a quality product that I recommend so much I've purchased it for other people as well.

The magnet is strong, the angles allow for so many different ways to use it. However, the suction cup is the best and the worst feature. While new, it is awesome!! It hold om to the windshield or dashboard like a fire and to your leg. The cup has this adhesive/sticky layer over the regular suction cup that keeps it in place and doesn't come undone when driving on rough roads or after running over a couple of speed bumps, lol. It's also what keeps it attached when it holds a tablet. I bought 3 when I experienced the solid stay power of this product! Unfortunately, that same adhesive/sticky surface seems to have a short life span of 8 to 11 months. I have had to replace the entire product because the adhesive/sticky part (for lack of better words) expires and starts decomposing by becoming this gooey slime that makes the holder slide out of place, sometimes it drips down from the windshield to the dashboard and ultimately, starts detaching from the windshield, leaving a sticky gunk that only alcohol is able to dissolve and clean. If the same is done to the suction cup, it loses the ability to remain in place as good if at all. I would love to be able to simply replace the cup when this happens, I would be ok with that. As annoying as it is, I really would do it, because the stay power is phenomenal WHEN IT WORKS. And I would then give it 4 stars. If the sticky surface would work for a few of years (3or 4) I would give it 5 stars and buy enough to give out as Christmas presents or all purpose present. These pictures are of the second one I used for my car and probably will look for another replacement and if it doesn't perform as well as this one, I'll have to come back to buy it for the 3rd time. This product is awesome WHEN IT WORKS, or I should say, WHILEITWORKS.

Awesome mount. The base is thick, slightly squishy and has a light glue around it. The seal it creates is very secure. It will not mount onto the surface of my dash, which has a small pattern, but will on a flat surface, even if it is not glass. It also will not fall off in as little time as a harder plastic base would (the ones you have to lick (if you're like me and lick your mounts to add a seal)). It is more of a pain to take off once mounted, but that's not a bad thing. I was a little concerned at first the glue would get contaminated because I was mounting, pulling off and moving it many times to find the perfect spot. It did not and has maintained a great hold, even with the force of my plus sized phone being on it while I drive. The Arm is perfect. I would highly recommend this over a shapeable arm, because those are weaker. This holds the phone exactly where I want it all the time. The only issue I have had is the magnet plate loosened, which someone has added a video of in their review below. It was a slight nuisance because it rattles but if you run into this it is an easy fix. Just unscrew the magnet plate from the mount arm until the threads are completely exposed and pull the plate off the ball joint. On the back of it, inside the threads, is a little rubber cup. Simply pop the cup out with a screw driver and there is a phillips head screw. Tighten that and put it back together. Not a big deal at all, so I didn't take off a star for it.

This product includes round and rectangular thin metal plates, either of which you can slip inside your cellphone case. The result is a very firm magnetic attachment to the powerful magnet of the car mount. The cellphone stays in place without slipping or wobbling, yet you can easily pull the phone off at any time. The car mount is made of sturdy plastic, with an easy-to-tighten/loosen elbow joint and an adjustable ball-and-socket mount, which combined allow you to set a wide range of positions and angles. I use the suction cup to attach the car mount atop the dashboard. In my car, the suction cup has remained attached for several months without disconnecting. I bought the same product for my daughter's car; its suction cup remained attached for 4 days, but I think we didn't create the suction carefully in her car. You can also use the suction cup to attach to the glass windshield, which I haven't tried. I charge my cellphone with a Seneo wireless charger. If you want to keep the car mount holder's thin metal plate permanently inside your cellphone case, and still be able to charge the cellphone with a wireless charger, experiment with the location of the plate inside your cellphone case. I found that by placing the plate near the bottom of the cellphone case, it doesn't block the wireless charger. (My cellphone case is an inexpensive Spigen Liquid Crystal case.)

Product is great, with a magnet and suction cup that will hold for an eternity! The device is infinitely adjustable as well, making it easy to put anywhere in the vehicle! Great price as well and well worth the marginal investment if you want a clean and easy to use phone holder in your car!

So much better than my previous holder, i have a cover on my phone and the metal disk stuck on the inside of the cover nicely, the grip is great, and although there is a slight vibration, its not enough to affect the ability to see the screen. I did wonder if the phone would slide around, but it has never moved at all, definitely worth the money.
