This PIG is a DOG! Great concept but POORLY Executed.
The first one of these I ordered had defective battery connections and the second could not be programmed. I did spend a little over an hour on the phone with Wink tech support and although I was impressed with the tech support person, he and I could not make little Porky work. Also the instruction page showed a link for help and the link was not there. The Quirky.com website no longer supports PORKFOLIO. I did send an email to Quirky looking for support. The reply I received was "Thank you for contacting Quirky! This is a legacy invention. The projects below are projects run on the old Quirky platform. This invention is no longer open for edits, contributions, or collaboration. Thank you, Quirky Support" Run away from this little piggy.

Great Product and a lot of fun!
We love this little guy! I did have trouble connecting it to my phone at first. I called Wink and he walked me through the setup. My phone's brightness was turned down and needed to be turned up. Ever since then I have had no problem and my kids love to hunt for change so they can watch Porkie's nose light up!

I very nice OLD-FASHIONED Piggy Bank
This one is probably the most buggy product I owned from Quirky (Wink). It was so hard to have it connected to my home WiFi. I tried everything I could in the instructions plus some out of the ordinary procedures. I spent more than 3 hours of connecting, resetting, reconnecting, turning off WiFi, changing batteries and even shaking it that maybe there will be some miracle that it will connect by itself. But to no avail. The main problem I get is it seems it connected to the WiFi, but the app doesn't recognize it so after a certain time it will timeout and prompt an error. I know because when I try to use it, by putting coin, the Porkfolio responds. Finally, I called @Winkapp customer service and they help me with it. Basically the workaround is when you are trying to connect by holding your phone screen to the nose of the Prokfolio, once you sense the first vibration of the phone that it has finished, you should take out the two battery of the Porkfolio right away. Then immediately put it back. The reason for this, as told by the customer care, the Prokfolios connection to the Wink's network was too fast that the app wasn't able to catch it when it is successfully connected, thus supporting my theory above. Anyways, with this procedure the Porkfolio successfully connected and recognized by the app. But it doesn't stop there, it did count couple of coins when you put it in, but after a day of idling, it wouldn't register anymore to the app. so even if I put it as many coins as I want, the last registered count was the last time I used it, which was the day I had a successful connection. *sad trombone* But there's more, the sensors doesn't work. Even if you move it, change its position, and move its head and arms and feet, there was no notifications for it. So that's sad. I wish Amazon would read my review and refund me 50% of what I paid for it because that is what this ordinary piggy bank is worth. And yes, I still want it as I use this as my daily regular saving coin.

Fun toy, but be ready for the challenge to set it up
I have tried a number of Wink or Quirky product, including Wink Egg Minder, Wink Hub, Quirky Nimbus, Quirky Porkfolio, Quirky Wink Spotter. They are creative products. However, they are not finalized/consumer-ready products. So, there are many complains about their products. In general, I suggest that you enjoy reading what Wink or Quirky will provide, but don’t spend your money yet. Please wait until many people start providing positive comments. Otherwise, you may just purchase a good number of early prototype with limited customer supports. Two major problems that have been mentioned by other people: (1) It is very challenge to set up the device. It took me often 2-3 times to set up the WiFi network. (It also wasted my 2-3 minutes for each device.) (2) Many of the functions do not work as advertised, for example, Nimbus cannot display the travel time between two places. I contacted the customer supports, but “we tested the travel time on our Nimbus here and we are having similar issues. … right now there is not much more we can do. We know there is a bug and we are working on it at the moment.” Porkfolio is fun. The kids love it. However, it is very hard to reset the dollar amount. My kids like it so much and they often empty the Porkfolio and put the coins back in. I wish there is a reset button so that the dollar amount can be zeroed out.

A-w-full, plain and simple
1 star for a bright idea and patient tech support. The rest is just awful, and this is coming for a tenacious tech guy. 20 setups, 3 tech support threads, failed and failed setups and when after 6 months it finally connected a month later it's no longer working. Extreme frustration and disappointment for kids

Porky lives! If you can't get your porkfolio online, try these steps....
Well, thanks to the many helpful comments here and a few hours of trial and error over a day I finally worked it out. In particular, the one that did it was from “Bogart”. Many, many thanks for that. I was about to contact Amazon and arrange a return. Anyhow, the steps are as follows: 1. Remove the head from the pig. It is a tight pressure fit, so is hard to remove but it does eventually pop off. You can remove the cable if you want as well - t’s a simple RJ connector - just remember to plug it back in before putting the head back on the pig! 2. Install the ‘wink’ app on your mobile, and make sure that brightness is on high. Don’t do it in direct sunlight, but otherwise you really don’t need to hide in a dark cupboard. 3. Remove the battery cover on the head of the pig 4. If the pig nose is not flashing orange, follow the instructions to reset it - basically tap on the help/question mark in the app, pull out a battery, plug it back in, press the reset button on the app, and put the pig nose directly on the mobile screen. Wait for the buzz from the mobile. If it’s not flashing orange, then try running the reset again immediately. 5. When the nose is flashing orange, use the app to transfer the wifi settings - again, just place the nose on the mobile screen BUT as soon as the mobile buzzes indicating the info has been sent PULL OUT one of the batteries. Then immediately plug it back in again. With luck the app will show the pig has been registered and you can give it a name etc. Put in a coin and see if it registers. 6. Put the battery cover back on, reconnect the cable if you unplugged that, and put the head back on the pig - again, pressure fit so need to use those muscles! What I learnt from all this - the batteries that came with the pig were fine and did not need replacing, you only needed to pull out one battery not both, you didn’t need to find an apple phone if you had android or vice versa, you didn’t need to shake the pig to get it to work, you didn’t need to unhide the SSID, you didn't need to do it all in a pitch black room, didn't need to muck around with the router, and you didn’t need to try to find the porkfolio app (which is no longer on the Android play store anyhow). All you had to do was follow the steps above. I suspect a timing issue with the Wink app that was not there with the original porkfolio app. Anyhow, problem solved. For anyone in Australia, be aware that - as clearly stated - this only knows about US currency. For us here downunder the AUD to USD conversion is as follows: $0.05 = $0.01 $0.10 = $0.25 $0.20 = $1.00 $0.50 = doesn't fit $1.00 = $0.25 $2.00 = $0.05 End result is in general Porky (yes, not that imaginative.... so 'sooiee' me) the pig will show there is less money in his tummy than there actually is. If you want you can manually add in the amount via the app (go into setting by tapping on the three dots on the top right hand of the screen, tap on your pig name, and tap on the 'deposit a dollar amount' button.). It would be nice if I could change him to support our local currency, but hey. I now have a money bank with a built in alarm that alerts me if the kids try to get at my change! I can also put the money in via the plug rather than the slot, and manually add in the amount to keep the tally accurate. Overall - finally - this is a good money bank. The plastic is thick and high quality, and if you can be bothered setting up the wifi connection then it does have some neat features. The configuration process definitely sucked, but now that's sorted I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

sort of cool if you have a wink relay because you can ...
Purchased this for my 2 yr old son. its nothing to special but it works as advertised and has a mobile app to keep track of what money is in the bank as well as setting goals. its also compatiable with Wink. sort of cool if you have a wink relay because you can then view the balance from any of your relay touchscreens as well as your mobie app.

She downloaded the app fine but it would never work for her
I gave this as a birthday gift to my nephew, but no matter how much my sister researched and tried she said they were never able to link her Iphone to the piggy bank. She downloaded the app fine but it would never work for her, so it's just like any other regular piggy bank, it sits there and you can drop change or money in it and that is it. Very dissapointed

Didn't work, shipping fees to send it back was as expensive as the item itself, kept it as a regular piggy bank (not connected)

Solo dolares
