The instruction manual sucks. On the a6300 do you remove the plastic shoe on the hot shoe connector on the bottom of the flash to fit it on the 6300?

Yes, that’s the protector. Remove it and it slips right into the hot shoe

I installed this on my new sony 6300 and got a screen message saying it was not compatible. Is there something I need to do on setup or is this true?

Does this flash work with ttl on sony 6000 series?

Yes and has. It's not a powerful light but for the price and functionality I bought two and if I was more serious I buy the remote
