Working with the Planets
Before Wicca and even before the advent of monotheism thee ancient ones worked with and even worshipped the seven wandering stars. Actually only one of them was a star, the sun, the other five were planets and the one was our moon. For each of these planets , depending on the culture a different God was assigned. Later on as monotheism became vogue different angels would be assigned to the planets. Each planet or star could be worked with or asked for a difference things or item you needed in life. ALong with a purpose for working with the planet there were various different scents, herbs and numbers associated with the planet. This book priced cheaply enough in the kindle version gives you the tools you need in order to incorporate planetary magic into you practice. The planets and their magic is based primarily on what we learned from the Greeks and Romans. They in turn learned their material from the Ancient Babylonians and Egyptians. THE babylonians were the first to works with planet magic . THe books tells you what the planets were used for and then goes into the various deities from different cultures that were associated with the planets. The next section gives over some meditative journeys for each ot the planets which you can read into a tape recorder along with some music and do some meditation . THe next section deals with times and days associated with the planets. This could be crucials for enhancing your work and helping you meet your goals. THis pertains to making your preparations , combining stellar power and actual working times. THE book also discusses invoking and evoking different spiritual creatures associated with the planet and this is done with a series of charts. So yo will get the deities associated with the planet, the arch angel, demon and orders of angels that go with the planet.THere is some very practical hands on stuff in this book as well. There are some basic instructions on how to to make a kamea, amulet and talisman. Again preparation times are needed. Later on there are pyramid mediations and finally the book tells you about the further planets in our solar system and how they can be worked with. This nice little book gives the reader plenty of tools to work with. However, I would not recommend it to the novice practitioner. I think for this book to be of maximum value you need to know how to construct a ritual for a working and then slowly implement the material of the book into your practice. Beginners need to see the whole thing put together as a model or example. Having tools in a tool box can be confusing, Thanksfully there are plenty of other books referenced in the back for further reading. I would suggest reading them as they are classic.

Very useful & practical reference to Planetary Magick
I bought this book a year or so ago. I had a lot of books to go through and somehow this dropped to the bottom of the pile. However, I started going through it and found it extremely useful. If you're looking for a large 500+ page follow these steps exactly, type of text... well this isn't it.This is what I expect magickal text to be about - to give insights that I can add into my own personal work.So... I did. To give an example of how I used this book, I recently created a Talisman for a specific entity within the book. I crafted the Talisman using some methods I learned elsewhere... and placed it upon the center of my working area - which happens to be an Enochian based working area.I used Rankine's ideas and formula within my own paradigm. I found his unique Pyramid visualization to be very valuable to establish a connection at the beginning of the work, with the energy I wanted to contact. The room was decorated to the appropriate correspondences (which a better reference of that might be 777), and proceeded with the sigils found in the book. The Talisman had already been prepared, crafted in pure silver - with the Zodical attributes Rankine listed for the Administrator Energy I was hoping to connect with.I penned out my own invocation, following loosely, the rules by Crowley in Liber Astarte... however the ritual took on a different direction or went in it's own way once the Energy came about. The results were a charged Lamen or Talisman (the difference in this situation is not so clear) for this being and the energy bound to it is quite strong. The point of this is to say - if you can take something someone teaches, add it to your own regime and get the result you're looking for - it's a success. For me Rankine's book is a success in that regard.

Nothing Earth Shaking
This wasn't a bad bad book or even a bad book, but then again it wasn't much of a good book either. If you have read anything at all about Planetary magick, then pass this one by. Doubt seriously you will find anything new. If you haven't read anything on Planetary magick I would highly suggest the one by Denning and Phillips.

Great beginners book, or an intermediary looking to broaden your Planetary connection, this is really nice.I feel it does lack some things, (the correspondence tables are a little sparser than expected, but additional information a simple google search away)its not the only book you will ever need, but helps with the basics, and goes beyond with the descriptive visualizations for for each planet and how to approach themPerfect addition for my needs and interests
