Had My Doubts, But I’m Convinced
Not only did I have an internal debate on what size I needed, but I also wasn’t sure if I need another piece of equipment to lug around with me on my car camping adventures. Well I am happy I decided to try out the Firecube and add it to my gear list. First, on the need to have a propane firepit … Many areas in California and almost everywhere now, ban open fires due to fire hazard but allow propane fires (some places ban any type of fires accept stoves – check the rules), Also, gathering wood (often prohibited) or lugging several bundles of wood in my limited vehicle space can be a real hassle. I also do not really enjoy smelling like a smoked salmon at bedtime – propane creates an order less burn. So, the choice for me was to either just go without the joys of a campfire or I get a propane firepit. Now on to what size I needed. I did a lot of internal debate about this. I often travel alone so the small Firecube would works for me. But what if I travel with a large group? I decided that compactness and mobility of the device in my vehicle was the priority. You do need to transport a propane tank too, which I thought was going to be a major drawback because of space and storage requirements. User tip: get a smaller 5/10/15 pound propane tank instead of a 20 pounder. Its easier to transport and will probably provide plenty of fuel for a 2/3 nigh trip – depending of course on how much you use it (you will need to test this in the field). You also need to figure out how to fill the smaller tanks. Anyway, the smaller firepit is perfect for one or two people. You can sit side-by-side with the warm fire in-between. It will keep you plenty warm. I have not tried it yet with 3 or 4 people – I will do this in my backyard to test it out, but I think it will provide adequate warmth and the requisite campfire ambience. It probably will not keep 4 people completely toasty warm on a really cold night, but the compactness and movability of this little guy was way more important to me. The minimalist design without a carrying case is an important benefit – less bulky and easy to move around during transport. The lid with the straps stays on very well and provides a handle to move it around. I even use the lid as an end-table for my coffee in the morning. The 10-foot hose wraps nicely around the device and doesn’t get in the way or come loose while moving it around in the vehicle. At under 20 pounds, It is not too heavy. It ignites easily, creates abundant warmth for a couple, provides a nice ambient glow and you can turn it on and off is a split second. No wood hauling or gathering, no smoky smoke an no need to worry about setting the forest on fire.

The Ultimate Campfire Hack—Smokeless, Portable, and Ready for Action
Let’s face it—camping is all about the experience. And nothing ruins that experience faster than trying to start a fire with wet wood and an uncooperative lighter. Enter the Outland Living Firecube 805—a 14-inch miracle of propane-powered warmth. This little beast is compact, portable, and packs a serious punch for its size. 58,000 BTUs of smokeless heat means no more sitting in a cloud of smoke like you’re the unwilling sidekick to a wild west campfire. You light it, and boom—instant fire. No kindling. No fighting with logs that are wetter than your camping morale. It’s sturdy, sleek, and doesn’t require a PhD in fire-starting to operate. Just set it up, turn the knob, and you’ve got yourself a legit firepit that keeps you warm and toasty all night—perfect for roasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories, or just looking like a total pro while everyone else struggles with their DIY campfires. Plus, the lava rocks? They give it that rustic, “I’m a fire-starting expert” vibe without you breaking a sweat. The carry kit makes it easy to haul, and the cover ensures that it’s ready to go whenever your campsite is in need of a reliable heat source. If you’re serious about camping but not about suffering through smoky, slow-burning fires—this is your new best friend.

Highest recommendation for a compact fire pit!
Oh man, this little fire pit is so awesome! I had been seriously considering buying a much more expensive ammo can-style fire pit for overlanding. I'm so glad I found this instead! It's the PERFECT size and shape for stowing in my off road trailer storage compartment. The fact that it is square, instead of round, is what really sets it apart from other similar models. That, and the fact that for a little guy, it has a really big flame and puts out a ton of warmth! Holy smokes, I really was so impressed; I wasn't expecting it to work so well, given it's size. I thought maybe two people would find some comfort if we sat close. Turns out, four of us sat comfortably with plenty of room (and heat) to spare. You can turn the flame up to the highest setting at the start, and then lower it once the rocks get hot. This helps to preserve some propane. Not only does it heat well, but it LOOKS great, and takes up such little room at camp. Plus, it comes with a top to keep it clean/dry, and a strap that easily attaches so you can carry it with one hand. It's brilliant! I honestly couldn't be happier with it. I'm so glad I didn't spend upwards of $1,000 for one of those overlanding fire cans! This one gets my highest recommendation!

Great for car camping
Great fire pit for the price! Don’t be fooled by bougie “overlanding” camping gear. This works perfect for car camping and doesn’t take up much space. Pair this with a 10 lb tank and you have a nice compact setup for a fraction of the cost. This is a quality product

Works well, difficult lid
Works as expected, seems to be good quality. The smaller size and portability are great for camping, especially if there's a burn ban for wood and on a cold morning, to provide instant heat without starting a wood campfire up. No smoke is great for kids and odor. The only complaint is the cover latches are difficult to attach, especially if trying to attach it while the metal is still hot, which is the only reason for 4 stars vs 5. Someone with arthritis or other hand/joint issues will likely not be able to attach the lid. At full power, it does go through propane faster than I expected, so a decision will have to be made on when it's best to go with wood vs firepit.

Perfect for car camping during stage 2 fire ban!
I am naturally skeptical, so when I saw like 800+ 5 star reviews of this fire pit, I thought at least some were fake. But this thing is awesome so far! It came Amazon fast when our state upped the fire ban to stage two for a camping reservation I made months ago. This ban prohibits campfires even in fire rings. This thing made our trip so much more bearable and warm! I actually think I prefer it to a wood fire for a lot of reasons mainly that it boils water super fast (we placed a grate over it to hold the pot) and heats evenly, there's no smoke (but there is like the propane to be careful of). I do wish it came with a grate, but I am overall really pleased with this and was so glad it was allowed during the fire ban. I did not have to "season" the lava rocks like I read online so that was a plus. Some of the rocks did get black marks and we had to place them strategically to mimic a more natural looking flame without blocking them. I wouldn't cook anything greasy over it more than hot dogs and marshmallows or something in a pot or pan, but I love this thing. Totally worth the purchase. The size is also perfect and not too big since we had to also lug the 20# propane tank along with all the other gear.

Great Portable Fire Pit
I love a good campfire but good wood can be hard to find and expensive. This unit provides nearly all the ambiance of a wood campfire without the smoke and throws lots of heat. We use this with our 20’ travel trailer and in our backyard. Really enjoy it, good quality build, easy to use. Get the travel case, good quality and keeps the lava rock dust in the case and not in the camper or your vehicle when transporting it, pricey but worth it. I have two hoses, one is that which is supplied with the unit that connects to a standard LPG cylinder and a second which connects to my campers quick connect port. This unfortunately requires changing hoses, which is pretty simple to do with a couple of wrenches but I’m going to get the fittings for a quick connect setup so I can easily go back and forth between the regulatory hose for the LPG cylinder and the already regulated supply on my travel trailer.

good alternative to camp fire
Ok, nothing beats a good old fashioned wood campfire, but more and more places are limiting those or not allowing them at all due to fire danger, etc. This is the next best thing. Its easy to set up, puts out a reasonable amount of heat, doesn't get hot underneath, and when you.re done, you just turn it off, wait a few minutes for it to cool down, and put the lid on and put it away. We ran all week on one tank of propane, a couple of hours a night, at medium flame. Fits perfectly in RV side storage compartment. No built in igniter so you will need a lighter or a match.

Great little fire bowl
Perfect for small backyards/ balconies where bylaw doesn't permit wood burning fires or taking on a camping trip. Very well made and comes with a metal cover for when it's not in use along with straps to keep everything contained while travelling. This was perfect for what I was looking for for a small townhouse backyard. Love it!

Great Fire Pit
Brilliant little fire that gives a great deal of warmth when sitting near to it. Camping friendly as it’s a gas fire. Excellent value for money, worth every penny for a cosy camp fire and also great in the garden.

Very happy with this
I bought this after seeing a friend having it on their balcony. I really love the size In shape of it of it - It’s square with rounded corners no sharp edges. It’s not too big and totally manageable in smaller spaces. I could see Camping with this up to four people - Perfect for one to two people camping. On a balcony, it’s a good two person. It’s relatively quiet, Although it does hiss a little But there’s a sweet spot about 1/3 that gives a nice calm, low balcony size claim where it’s quiet, Any less It gets loud anymore. The flame is quite big. The base stays pretty cool to the touch. The lava rocks are just enough. I like that it has a really long hose so that my tank is quite far away from the flames Stays clean, no warping so far (Using low flames as mentioned above) Comes with a lid and a carrying strap It’s one of my favourite things on my balcony I would recommend this
