Jim Kerr keeps going strong
I like Simple Minds...and their elevating music. This CD does not disappoint. It still has the ethereal feel and thought provoking lyrics and keyboard/guitar etc...along with Kerr's unique voice and style are classic Simple Minds. Listened to the whole album as soon as I got it and enjoyed all of it.

Great CD, not boring. Highly recommended.
I am loving this album. I haven't listened to it all yet but a couple stand outs so far. I love this is an acoustic album without being boring. Sometimes old songs get redone with just a guitar and it doesn't resemble any of the originality although powerful in a different realm. This is the opposite. The acoustic flare is there with the energy of the original song. Just take a listen to Sanctify Yourself. See the Lights brings back memories of an enjoyable time of my life. So, I am about half way through and I love the full sounds. The only reason I didn't get it 5 stars is I would have liked a track from "Good News." I am sure everyone will have a track they wished was on here. I am just in love with this sound and how fresh these old tracks sound. The best thing they have done in a while

Not the same old "old songs done acoustic" catalog filler
I'm generally not a fan of these "old songs newly done acoustic" records. Usually putting out acoustic retreads of the old hits is the last refuge of the idea-less. But this set from Simple Minds works amazingly well. I ordered within minutes of hearing the acoustic redo of "Promised You a Miracle," which is absolutely transcendent. It's a whole song that just happens to have the exact same words and melody of an old familiar friend from the early 80s. The New Gold Dream LP is a particularly rich vein to mine as "Glittering Prize" is just as amazing and fresh. And the fact that I mention two of the songs off that LP does not denigrate the awesome sound of "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" or New Gold Dream's title track. Everything works great, except "Sanctify Yourself," which works much much better with the majesterial bombast of the original. But "See The Lights" and "Chelsea Girl" more than compensate for this weak link. The only way this could've been better would've been if there had been an acoustic version of "70 Cities As Love Brings The Fall."

VERY satisfying. It's on the last track before one knows it.

amazeballs
wow.i've been a fan since their first album (not always easy over 2nd and 3rd album) and i've been as full of glee as a schoolgirl getting a gift (real) pony.this is a remarkably fresh reworking of already strong material...taking it to new and exciting places after the intervening years.yeah i'm a first rate fanboy but seriously, new people will like this. especially as tours are hard to find in the good ole u.s.a.this isn't a straight mtv type unplugged... they manage to achieve that sonic grandeur they're known for, but in new ways.this is *almost* what it would seem to be like to be them before a small venue show, or rather that show without the audience or synths.

Fantastic Acoustic Rendition of Simple Minds' Hits!
I've been a Simple Minds fan since the early 80's, but somehow I missed when Jim Kerr & Co. had released this CD in 2016. I've had this CD for less than a week, and I've already listened to it several dozen times! It is a wonderful acoustic collection of Simple Minds' biggest hits through the years. These renditions are both energizing and calming, in pure Simple Minds style.

Simpley Irresistable
I never was a huge fan of Simple Minds but one of my favorite songs of the 80s was "Don;t you forget about me". I love acoustic music and thought that it would be good to hear a fresh take on some of these songs. I put the CD into my cars CD player and was a little disturbed by the first song. Not my cuppa tea, too repetitive, skip to the next. A hardly recognizable version of "promised you a miracle", maybe a few more listens and I'll like it, but from then on, started to really enjoy the music. Glittering Prize and See the Lights are excellent, and the rest of the tracks are very listenable, except [perhaps "Long Black Train", a moody piece that doesn't quite fit.

Nice departure from 'big' sound of Simple Minds
Simple minds fans will love this despite it being such a departure from the typical big sound of studio albums and live performances.

Simple minds Acoustic
