Can you not see the size that will fit in this thing !!! If its thicker than the slot you can trim the opening

Just some careful trimming/filing of the mold irregularities inside the area where the lens fits.Works just fine!

Q: how does this get installed? is there a back plate on the inside of the hood

Yes there is a back plate. You'll have to cut out the factory lens holder in the hood.
