WOW. Fixed that sickening musty towel smell!
I was skeptic about the the reviews and also the videos I saw on the company's website. But I was desperate to try something else. Our problem was the same as everyone else's--washing towels in a HE washer, we have hard water, after a while they start stinking like dingy wet towels. No matter how much soap, chlorine, vinegar, home-remedy-fixers, soaking in lemon juice, etc. The towels stilled reeked! I would step out of the shower, go to dry off with this freshly washed, dry towel, and as soon as it touched water, it just made me gag. So I had about 18 towels. Most of them stunk bad. A few weren't as bad but were getting there. A couple only had no smell, but I wanted to kill off whatever was in all of them so I treated all my towels. I filled up my tub with hot water. I placed a quarter cup of Smelly Towel Cleaner in the water and then churned the water (The bottle says only a capful, but I said "no way, not with these towels. I tried the process with only 1 capful on some other towels and it did the same job. So start off with just one capful, like the directions say) I then placed each towel in the water, one by one, making sure each got soaked. I ended up having to open the bathroom window because the stink coming off the towels was so bad. Anyway, i then had my wife help me wring the towels outside, to get rid of excess water, and washed them in three batches. No soap, no chlorine, no fabric softener, JUST the Smelly Towel cleaner. I then dried them imemdiately after they finished washing. WOW! Amazing. They didn't smell. Just to be clear, though, 1-2 towels out of the whole bunch, still had a hint of the bad smell I have since washed them again and there is no smell. It is amazing and worth the money JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, WRING OUT YOUR TOWELS BEFORE WASHING, AND DRY THEM IMMEDIATELY. If not 100% stink-free, just re-wash and it will do the job.

Great product.
My towels used to smell nice after washing, but quickly became kinda gross smelling. After washing them in this stuff. They always smell great gif a long time.

I would recommend this product to anyone
I found Smelly Washer and Smelly Towel online. I had started researching products when we began having problems with our towels; as soon as we dried off in the shower the towel STANK! I do laundry every week, however we have a high-efficiency washing machine and I do most loads (but not sheets and towels) in cold water. My washing machine NEVER had an odour and its only a year and a half old. We figured we weren't drying our towels properly. Long story short, I received this product and used it. I had read all the reviews online and was cautiously optimistic. I ran my first load of smelly washer and my machine stank! My husband figured the product made it smell, lol, however I had done the research and figured I had unearthed a new layer of bacteria. I proceeded to run three more loads on "sanitary" setting and we both agreed the washing machine smelled brand new. I soaked all of our smelly towels and dish cloths/ rags overnight in the Smelly Towel (it took at least 18 hours until the smell stopped emanating from the bins of water) and then washed all of our clothes and towels with a cap full of Smelly Towel. The reason I am writing this testimonial is because of a doctors visit I had today. I have had a rash on my legs since about mid-October when I quickly shaved one day. After discussing it with my doctor, it turns out I have a staph (staph folliculitus) infection on my skin. She originally suggested it was my razor however when I mentioned I had just cleaned my washer, she was convinced it was bacteria filled towels. This product is amazing and I am very glad I bought it. As I write this testimonial, I am running a few loads through just in case. I have also recommended the product to my friends, and would recommend it to anyone who wasn't sure; It really does work. I wanted to share my experience as until today I didn't really think stinky towels were a big deal. When it starts affecting health though, it's a totally different issue.

Great product. Removes the smell from your towels- also helps to "freshen" your washing machine
Have purchased this product a couple of times both from Amazon and directly from a store. I find that it works best by adding it to a filled washing machine , turning/pausing the machine, adding the towels and letting the towel and product stand over night. In the AM, you restart the machine. This is the best way to really get/diminish the smell in the towels. It also works fine, running it the "normal " way but does not remove the smell, to the same extent.

Takes away smells of bad towels
I do a lot of yoga and my yoga teacher out in Hawaii swears by the Smelly Washer brand. I'm brand new to this. I got two kinds, one is a regular one and another is this Towel Cleaner version. It is in powder form and it is pretty strong. The label warns that if you put new clothes, the colors will fade. I threw all my yoga towels and other regular towels in but I missed a brown top in there too. It wasn't new and it did not fade one bit. In fact, none of my towels, even the pink one, suffered from any loss of color. The bad sweat smell is gone now, and your towels smell of absolutely nothing. :) It's great for the bad smell to be gone but I wish there was some kind of scent to give to the freshly cleaned laundry. Anyway, that was not the #1 priority and the stuff works. I'm partial to liquid detergents but we used the powder and the results are satisfactory. I would not use this powder with a regular load of laundry. It's targeted for towels only.

Finally a product to rid towels of the dreaded stench
At first I was going to just pass this by because its a tiny bottle for over $20, but everyone who reviewed it said it was worth it so I thought I would buy one bottle and give it a try. I don't know what magic potion is in this bottle, but it really does help to remove towel odors. It was noticeable after my first wash and it seems to work better and better with each use. I loved it so much I started using it to wash my dog blankets and sure enough, with each wash the odors get less and less! I also stopped using liquid fabric softeners in my wash because those are the culprits for allowing odors to collect in everything you wash. I have switched to a fabric rinse aid that removed residues from fabrics in the wash and that has also made a huge difference. I will continue to be a loyal customer despite the steep price tag for this powder. I highly recommend you give it a try!

Finally!
We live on a lake and the house has a high humidity level, the towels take a long time to dry even when hung up. The boys (and their friends) were always throwing their wet towels - wet bath towels, wet washcloths, wet beach towels, wet kitchen towels and wet dishcloths (that had been used for days) in piles everywhere. They all told me I had a beagle nose because I seemed to be the only one that could smell that horrific odor of mildewy towels. There's nothing worse than getting out of the shower all fresh and clean and then drying off with a stinky towel. Yuck. I tried everything, washing the towels in the hottest water, vinegar, baking soda, oxi stuff, color safe bleach, you name it. The kitchen towels and dishcloths were so bad I threw them all away and bought new. I figured Amazon must have something for this problem, I read the reviews on this and made my purchase. I sure wish I had found this product sooner. I used it as directed, putting a capful (about a tablespoon size) in the soak cycle. I figured our towels were so bad I let them soak for a couple hours. I then washed them with regular detergent and low and behold - No Smell! I even had the boys smell a "treated" towel and a "not treated towel" and they could smell the difference! While I can't train the boys to pick up after themselves all the time - at least I have this stuff for when I find a pile of their dirty towels they'd used to wash the car, or when I find the beach towels in a corner of the sun room. This stuff works!

I love this stuff
I have a problem with my towels smelling like mildew. My bathroom doesn't get enough ventilation, so even if I would spread my towels out, I would still get a bad smell. I also have teenagers that just bunch up there towels and throw them anywhere. I would hang my towels off my balcony, but I would forget to bring them back in or they would have that outside smell. I would throw the old ones away and once a week buy two more towels. When the new towels started smelling I knew there was a problem. I washed them in hot water with no detergent with only baking soda, then a second wash with vinegar. The towels would smell nice, but then after the second time you used them, there is that mildew smell. I found this and thought I would give it a try. When I read the instructions on Amazon it said to use with your detergent. When I got the bottle it said no detergent just use smelly towel product. So I did that. The towels don't smell ever!!! Even the old ones that were going to get thrown away that I have had for over 10 years. No smell! I think the price is perfect especially since you don't have to use additional laundry detergent or softener. I use this product every time I wash the towels, so I don't have that smell. I have not tried to go a few washes without it to see how long it lasts until I was forced to because I ran out. I re ordered after a week, the towels still didn't smell.

Does what it says!
Fantastic - was at the point of throwing out all my towels until I found this - used it on them about three or four times and now they are keeping fresh and only use it as a top up. Good for smelly sportswear as well - but top tip - don't use conditioner - that's what makes a lot of fabrics smell - as it stops them breathing.

Totally works
I'm not sure what is in this, but a tiny capful cured a mildew smell in a batch of clothes and towels I was a bout to throw out. The mildew smell is completely gone even after wearing/using.
