Full of hilarious events, this story of a middle child will keep you laughing. Great read for children and middle child adults
The second book in the Moffat series, this book's focus is on Jane, the next to the youngest sibling in the family. This is a funny book, told from Jane's point of view. Being the third of four children, Jane feels left out without a title. Mother calls Sylvie, "my oldest child," Joey, "my oldest son," and Rufus, "my youngest son." However, Jane is just plain Jane. When Jane names herself "the middle Moffat," she not only boosts her moral, she launches into a series of adventure and new friendships that will keep you laughing out loud, in spite of yourself. From a disastrous organ recital, making sure the oldest man of Cranbury lives to one hundred, to "losing her head" in a play, Jane enthusiastically zips from one hilarious event to another. If you've ever been a middle child, you will identify and love Jane, the mysterious middle Moffat.

Wonderful reading!!!
My earliest recollections of reading are when I got my first library card in grade school many, many, did I say many?, years ago. The books that stand out as my first are The Moffat series by Eleanor Estes. To this day I can remember reading about the Moffat family, especially young Rufus. Perhaps I identified with him. I love the drawings in the book and the stories. They are full of family fun and values. I just bought these for my new step-children (getting married Mar 30/10) for them to get the enjoyment that I remember. An excellent value and free shipping if you purchase all 4. I actually received one free because I purchased 4. Worked for me. Enjoy!!! Perhaps they are what inspired me to become an author myself.

A classic series that deserves a continuing audience!
We just discovered the Moffats (I don't know why I never knew of them when I was a kid). They are WONDERFUL books. The family is very real and very funny. Their adventures are delightful. My 9 year old son likes the books even more than I do; he raced ahead of me in reading the chapters and now I have to catch up.
