If you look closely at the second product photo there are brackets that interlock with any other bracket on another stencil. There are 2 types, and they go on easy on same bracket types but take a little more bending for locking into opposing type brackets.

How wide are the 8 inch tall letters?

I really don’t know how to respond to this question. Give me a specific letter and I will tell you. An “I” will be much narrower than a “W”. Give me a hint of what you mean by width.

Are the actual letters 12" tall 12" or is the Stencil itself 12" high?

Hello, the actual letters are 12" tall.

Are these sturdy enough to use with a router with a guide bushing?

No, In my opinion, I don’t think these stencils would be sturdy enough to use with a router with a guide bushing.
