hard plstic, stands up to the job asked, no fails
this item is a hard plastic. it comes with typical metal bands, easy to use. I needed this check valve for a pump. I need to pump water from a pond for my garden. this will fit 3/4 very easy and secure. both ends. I used a window screen patch and wrapped in around it after complete to keep from sand dirt leaves entering . this workee perfect with my Amazon milwalkee battery clone pump. and cheaper than hardwatre store. I will get a few extras. the stop check works 100% on the reverse water flow.

Good valve, just stopped working after 2 years
It worked perfectly for 2 years and then it just stopped. The rubber flapper now gets stuck immediately after taking it apart and blowing through it. Otherwise it's been a great check valve and worked perfectly for my bilge in Salt water. Maybe would last longer in less harsh conditions. I'm going to try the whale brand valve and see how it does. Time will tell.

Not Bad
Before I purchased this I noticed that some people were having issues with the check valve staying connected in the middle where the valve gasket is, and where the two ends are either heat welded or glued together. So far I haven't had, or noticed any potential issues.

Yo lo uso par que la water pump saque again fires de mi boat y la Del Mar no retorne es buenos buenisima ya lleva tiempo conmigo y functions perfect

It will work.
So I use this for a dwc setup with recirculating water. If the power goes out my rez will overflow. I got this thinking it would stop the flow back with out power. Nope it didn't stop it. It did however slow the backlog greatly. I might have a defective one I'm not sure. Only to find out is to order another one. But if you are looking for 0 flowback this might not work fyi

Fixed furnace drain
Used this check valve to prevent my gas furnace condensation drain from backing up into the fire chamber.
