TCL A30 Unlocked Smartphone with 5.5" HD+ Display, 8MP Rear Camera, 32GB+3GB RAM, 3000mAh Battery, Android 11, Prime Black

I got this smartphone to replace my old iPhone 6s since I wanted to try an Android Smartphone this time. I found several brand new phones from TCL news and eventually chose the A30 one. The phone and its battery were seperately placed in the package box when it was delivered. It was quite easy to assemble the battery into the phone. You can even do that without the quick start guide. The package is also pretty which does not look like just a $100 phone. The cellphone's processing and operations run really smoothly and quickly. You can open multiple apps one time and it will not affect its speed. I downloaded several newly released games such as Diablo Immortal and Genshin Impact, and all of them operated smoothly. The only concern is that the smartphone does not come with an additional RAM disk and it only has 32GB storage. So if you would like to download a lot of games or large apps, I would recommend you to buy another disk and insert it into the phone. A30 does provide a place to insert another memory disk. In addition, it supports multiple Google apps which had been pre-installed on the phone. You don't need to spend a lot of time to find the apps and install them. The battery is also very long-lasting. I used it to play Genshin Impact for several hours with all best graphic setting, it still had much power left. Overall, it's worthy with only $100 to get this impressive phone. If you have a budget plan for your smartphone, I would strongly recommend this TCL A30.

Wanting to change service providers, since the previous never notifies me when minutes, texts, or air time are getting low or are about to expire, I looked for something that was compatible with Mint Mobile and this phone works very well for it. Unlike most, I'm not much of a phone user. I do everything on my desktop for several reasons whenever possible. Still, I use the phone solely for communication purposes, mainly just for calling and occasional text messages and very rarely anything else. Normally, for photos, I use my DSLR as it's greatly superior to just about everything for photos. I've used the camera on this phone a few times, and it's of grade C quality. There are some modest strong points but also some modest weak points. It only goes to 1/15 second for the longest shutter and performs very poorly in low light conditions, also having low contrast. For daylight stuff, it performs quite well though I can see some odd blurring effects even when setting the self timer and resting the phone up against a rock for perfect stability. It's probably the image compression though I'm unsure (JPG using 2x1 subsampling may explain it, instead of the very sharp 1x1). Strangely, there's no control for adjusting the aperture on it (nearly every lens has aperture adjustment, often something like f/3.5 to f/16 or f/22). It may be a software limitation for what's built in. The autofocus is of high quality in daylight settings and bright indoor settings and I love the panorama mode (though it doesn't work for moving scenes such as water waves).

The battery is good too. The other day I spent 4 hours playing games, and it still had 50% power left after I finished. The phone is compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T Network and works great with these carriers. I knew that TCL produces nice TVs, but I don’t know they sell great mobile phones too! I bought this for my daughter who was 13 at the time. It is definitely a cheaply made phone. We have always purchased Samsung Galaxy phones until this one. We purchased because it was a smaller smartphone and my daughter liked that. The phone feels plastic-y and flimsy. The entire time she used it, it was a little glitchy and didn't always connect to the cellular network very well (to be fair, though, she only had 500MB 4g data each month, that then dropped to 2g for the remainder of the month). Her sister's hand-me-down 2016 iPhone has faster connections. The glitchiness was mostly annoying, so we managed it. The battery life was good. Until it wasn't. A few days ago, the phone stopped charging - it was giving a "low battery temperature" warning and wouldn't charge. If plugged in while turned off, the phone would say "Error! Please plug out charger!" Clearly, they are missing some quality control if their grammar is not correct. It was easy to get a hold of tech support at TCL, after doing a factory reset, the issue persisted. They offered to warranty it because it was within a year of purchase, but wanted me to pay $20 for the shipping. That is 25% of what I paid for it. I learned my lesson: TCL = Bad. Stick with Samsung.

Edited from original review: This was received missing the charging cord and the “block” (if was to be included), being only the phone and paperwork loosely falling out of the box, not packed properly with a protective sheet over phone screen, instead having slight smudges upon, realizing I was sent a refurbished or renewed model, not a NEW one. 😟 My first thought was having to return, but was anxious to see if the phone worked, to see if the battery was installed, choosing it due to a specific phone service compatibility, being limited in phones available to use with them. Trying to locate a compatible charging cord for at home, I did, but was displayed that it was “slow charging” and to “use the proper charger”. 🫤 I felt anxious to see it work, there not being many compatible phones for Tello service with a T-Mobile connection. As soon as installing my Sim card given by Tello, it displayed T-Mobile on the screen, so I then I went thru settings and made test calls / texts, and was working. ANYWAY…after trying the phone, there are some features that I am liking, so I suppose it is okay, but I am unhappy to have not had the charger included (and as others have stated, it NOT being a “type C” as described in the product information, but rather a Micro USB), not provided, AND feel I should be refunded something since apparently it being refurbished, which I had contacted the seller and Amazon, regarding. *To add from product description: “Product will come with a SIM removal tool, a charger and a charging cable”. As mentioned, the charging cable was missing, AND the other items. I had to order a separate charging cable, getting only a small amount credited by Amazon, and NOT from the seller who made NO effort to correct the error. (It figures that this would occur with a phone I would want, since it works with chosen service). * The seller had said it “was up to Amazon”, though the seller was the one making the error. I was told I would need to send back to get another phone sent, in order to be refunded. The thing is, I did not want to fiddle with the Sim sent by Tello, in case it could get damaged, then would need THAT replaced, also. After speaking to Amazon, was told that I could get a slight refund. So, I unknowingly paid $108.41 for a refurb. phone sent by the seller, yet those being listed at $48.00. This is the first time I have had an issue like this and not too happy. 😒 So, the phone itself seems okay, I like that navigating is quick, the phone being smaller and more lightweight, the features being straightforward, and the overall look is fine. I was initially overshadowed by the product-receiving issue, and was unsure about the phone. After getting a proper charging cord, I saw that it charges more quickly, seems to last a bit for my needs. The phone seems fine, I am just angry at the seller - LincolnWood or something, for the mishap.

First off . . . $99 phone. That being said, I feel I got my money's worth. It works fine. The camera is decent. The battery life is decent. If you want fancy stuff, spend a little more money. The only thing I could do without is that it's still micro USB. Type C would've been awesome. But then again . . . $99. So far so good. The battery will last me a whole day (I'm not stuck on it playing games or streaming videos). I use it as my basic phone. I'm not a picture-phile. The camera gets the job done for me. I do listen to music on it. No complaints. Battery is decent. no lagging. Calls come in, they go out, and they sound clear to me. If you want a phone for phone stuff, I recommend it. If you want a phone to live out of, I suggest investing a bit more for something more "flagship". An iPhone or Samsung perhaps 🤷‍♂️. O recommend it.

I got this to replace my old Samsung A3s and I also have many TCL TVs and other products and they're known to have good value for the price. This TCL A30 has so many features, I was amazed by the price. Inside the box are the phone, removable battery, micro-USB cable, power adapter, and user manual. Setting up was really easy only took me 10 minutes, and the battery lasted me for days with 6 hours+ of screen-on time every day, good screen I have no problem playing games or watching movies, and with expandable storage I can add a micro SD card to have even more storage if I ever need it, excellent call quality with loudspeakers and good cameras for that also has facial recognition and many more features. Overall very well worth the price. Highly recommended

Been using this phone for a while, and it's kept well these few years. I love the simple design, light weight, and small size. The battery lasts a long time. Now, I'm having to change a phone because not all apps are compatible (you can't touch-scan to pay, etc.) and the phone doesn't support e-sim. The storage also fills up pretty fast for me, but it works well if you keep transferring the photos or buy an sd card for extra space. But for those who don't need lots of storage or high-tech stuff, this phone is cute and worth it. My family complains its slow but that doesn't matter too much for me as I'm not on my phone very much. The reason I'm saying goodbye to this phone and upgrading is because I need better camera quality and some other things that can only work with higher grade phones for some of my travels and work.
